Pastoral Resident: Redeemer Winter Haven

Job Description:

• Ministry Preparedness – prioritizing (50% of time) formal seminary studies and Renew Polk cohort shared learning experiences.
• Ministry Experience – participating in all staff meetings, ministry team meetings, as well as Session meetings and Deacons meetings. Also, hospital visitations and pastoral counseling sessions.
• Ministry Tools – achieving proficiency in the four gospel tools – Community Bible Reading, Praying Life, Disciple by Grace, and Person of Jesus Study – by first learning and then teaching.
• Ministry Opportunities – preach 2-3 times annually; lead liturgy and prayers in worship services; also lead Bible studies, POJ studies, etc. as needed.
• Specific Ministry Initiative – conceptualizing and executing a specific ministry initiative at Redeemer (ex. Heart for Winter Haven, Young Adults, Outreach, etc.)

Position Qualifications:

• Must have a growing relationship with God exhibited in personal spiritual habits of Bible reading and prayer, resulting in a lifestyle of ongoing and deepening repentance and faith
• Must be able to articulate a call to vocational ministry.
• Must be pursuing formal theological education.
• Must be agreeable to the doctrinal standards of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA).
• Must live in Winter Haven, FL or be willing to relocate for the duration of the residency.

Redeemer currently has 330 communing and 85 non-communing members, with an average attendance of 365 people (125 children) in two Sunday morning services. We are a multi-generational congregation – 25% 55 and up, 50% families with teenagers and children, and 25% young adults and singles. Those with church backgrounds are from either broadly evangelical or mainline churches. Only a few of our members have a PCA background.

We're in the process of a $7M Capital Campaign to expand our classroom space for children and adults, build a new fellowship hall/multi-purpose room, & expand our sanctuary. We are also using the campaign to bolster our Seminary Scholarship Fund, plant churches, & create a pastoral residency program.
