Registered Nurse – Bethesda Mission

SUMMARY OF POSITION Incumbent provides nursing support of the Mission’s Medical Clinic on Monday’s.

All Bethesda Mission staff must:  Provide a biblically sound testimony of having accepted Jesus Christ and lead a life worthy of that profession. Actively engage in private and corporate prayer, Bible Study, regular church attendance, and holy living.  Agree with and carry out responsibilities in accordance with the Mission’s policies

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  Coordinates and provides care that is safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable and patient centered  Facilitates multiple care aspects including case coordination, information sharing and health education  Develops and maintains effective working relations with Community Partners  Helps patients achieve wellness and autonomy by connecting them with a Primary Care Physician  Works with the shelter staff in coordinating care of Bethesda patients  Opens/closes the Clinic, including getting necessary records, equipment and supplies ready for use and securing this material after all patients have been seen  During clinic hours, assures an orderly flow of patients and circulates among the stations assisting physicians as necessary  Ensures that medical records of the Clinic are maintained in proper order  Provides assistance on a rotating schedule during day/evening Clinic hours  Assumes other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS  Committed to serving the poor and homeless.  Possesses a current, active RN license.  Requires flexibility in providing coverage through the medical day/evening clinic schedule.  Presents a history of stable and responsible employment.  Possesses at least two years’ experience in coordinating and providing support to the clinical work of other health professionals.  Possesses the ability to maintain positive, productive working relationships with others.  Demonstrates ability to handle significant levels of stress inherent in Clinic operations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Sits, stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during working hours. Interacts with guests, staff, visitors, etc., under all conditions/circumstances. May be subject to hostile and emotionally upset guests or visitors, etc. under all conditions/circumstances. May be exposed to infectious conditions including exposure to the AIDS and hepatitis B viruses. May be required to work extended periods of time at a computer.
