Resale Store Assistant Manager – GAP Ministries

JOB SUMMARY: The Resale Store Assistant Manager supports the Manager in providing supervision, oversight and management of the resale store's operations to generate revenues to support agency administration and programs to include ensuring the store and specific areas are organized, clean and product is clean and in the correct location within the store and the product display is appealing to customers. The Assistant Manager manages staff and volunteers, oversees sales, donations of merchandise, promotion of the store in the community, and internal fiscal controls whenever the Manager is not on site.

The ideal candidate will be highly energetic, friendly and seek to find innovative ways to manage and improve the resale store. The right candidate will be committed to creating a professional, yet loving atmosphere and will desire to instruct and serve alongside staff and volunteers, to serve our recovery program, the community and each other. The Resale Store Assistant Manager shall report to the Resale Store Manager for all resale store operations issues. This position is a full-time, exempt, salary position.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Store Management & Merchandising:
  • Maintain procedures implemented by the Manager in areas of store operations, including opening, and closing the store; procedures for accepting, sorting, pricing donations; security procedures for staff and volunteers, handling of cash, and other relevant procedures as needed.
  • Oversee the processing of donated items, manages the rotation of items and the disposal of donated items in a timely fashion, as directed by the Manager.
  • Processing includes sorting, cleaning, tagging, displaying and disposing of donated items, providing leadership to staff and volunteers; setting standards for merchandise and communicates the same.
  • Manages supply inventory and completes purchase orders as necessary.
  • Participate in training required by accreditation standards, plus performance and quality improvement efforts.

Management Responsibilities:

  • Provide supervision and direction to employees, volunteers, and Career + participants as needed or

    requested by the store manager.

  • Provide training for new employees, volunteers and Career+ participants.
  • Oversee function of store and productivity of employees when store manager is absent.
  • Inform the store manager of unethical behaviors or disruptive occurrences. This includes reporting any

    situation that has potential to create a hostile environment if left unaddressed.

  • Oversee operations and functionality of Area 1.
  • Open and close the store as needed.
  • Provide community engagement through social media.
Customer Service Responsibilities:
  • Provide service to internal and external customers according to standards and ensure staff and volunteers follow the same standards.
  • Promote excellence in the customer service experience for all visitors to the resale store through staff training, stakeholder surveys, and focus groups.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Perform other duties as required as requested by Management.
  • Participate in in-service trainings.
  • Perform other appropriate tasks as assigned or requested by management

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in retail management (2+ years) required.
  • Have attention to detail skills.
  • Experience with "point of sale," computerized sales & inventory systems.
  • Experience overseeing volunteers is a plus.
  • Reliable and trustworthy; sound decision-making skills.
  • Strong verbal, writing & organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to serve clients in a professional, welcoming, and efficient manner.
  • Cooperative, friendly, and helpful attitude with clients, customers, and co-workers. Ability to work closely

    with other employees to ensure a positive, constructive environment within the program or department, and

    throughout the agency.

  • Ability to thrive in a flexible, fast-paced and growth-oriented environment, while maintaining a sense of

    humor and a positive, solution-oriented approach.

  • Passion and enthusiasm for the mission of GAP Ministries and Miracle Center and its customers, clients, and

    volunteers.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prefer a high school diploma or equivalency diploma.
  • Successfully pass FBI fingerprint clearance check and procure a Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Successful clearance of criminal background check(s) and Central Registry in Arizona.
  • Valid Arizona driver's license.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Personally grow in leadership and spiritual life.
  • Must have basic math skills.
  • Upholds attendance and performance standards.
  • Must adhere to Company dress code and appearance policy.
  • Cognizant of monthly sales goals. Uses goals to encourage sales on a daily basis.
  • Available to work a variety of hours, including early mornings, evenings, Saturdays.
  • Must demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, tact and sound judgment.
  • Able to work as part of a team and take initiative independent of direct supervision.
  • Must pass a mandatory drug screen. Miracle Center is a drug-free workplace and requires drug screening to all

    new employees as well as random screening to ensure enforcement of this policy.

  • Be able to perform various physical tasks.
  • Human Resource package completed.
