Overview To shepherd and care for Hazelwood Baptist Church through a season of revitalization, fostering spiritual health, congregational unity, and missional engagement. This role is part of a revitalization partnership with Orchard Church and is aimed at restoring vitality to the local body in alignment with gospel values and long-term sustainability. During the Revitalization Partnership, Hazelwood Baptist Church will have the opportunity to vote to call this Revitalization Pastor as their Lead Pastor.

Key Responsibilities

Sermon Prep/Preaching: Regularly preach and teach the Word, providing gospel clarity and vision. Revitalization Leadership: Lead the Revitalization Leadership Team as they assess the health of Hazelwood Baptist Church and lead the implementation of proposed changes to Hazelwood Baptist Church's ministry programming, governance documents, and outreach efforts. Provide Gospel Leadership: Deliver gospel clarity through pastoral moments, benedictions, group settings, and other teaching opportunities as requested. Disciple and develop ministry leaders and volunteers to serve the church body. Develop and Oversee Ministries: Relaunch and lead ministries such as discipleship groups, kids/students ministries, and outreach programs.- Community/Missional Engagement: Strategize and execute community engagement opportunities and events to promote gospel sharing, church awareness, and neighborhood presence. Lead Staff and Volunteers: Recruit, train, and manage staff and high-capacity leaders to lead the various within the Hazelwood Baptist Church while fostering a culture of discipleship. Operational Oversight: Lead weekly worship services, manage church calendar, and collaborate on budget and facility needs. Celebrate Successes: Capture and share stories of God's work to inspire and unite the church body. Participate in Orchard Church initiatives and work with leadership to maintain gospel alignment and strategic direction. Governance and Leadership Teams: Work alongside Revitalization Leadership Team to establish a deacon ministry and governance teams such as a Nominating, Human Resources, Finance, and Long Range Planning teams in preparation for Hazelwood Baptist Church's long-term sustainability. Shepherd into Maturity: Along with the TOC Central Staff, establish markers of healthiness within Hazelwood Baptist Church. Work alongside church leadership to achieve these markers of maturity.

Other Duties & Responsibilities

Lead a Life Group for personal and family spiritual growth. Engage actively in church ministries such as baptisms, new member classes, and special events. Maintain a personal walk with God through consistent Bible study, prayer, and meditation.

Qualifications

Evidence of moral character and a lifestyle consistent with the church's Constitution, Bylaws, and Statement of Faith. Preferred: Licensed or ordained minister with at least 5 years of ministry experience. Strong theological knowledge and alignment with The Orchard Church's mission and values.

Knowledge/Understanding

Cooperates with our guiding principles and The Orchard Church philosophy of ministry. Pursues knowledge of the current cultural/social environment of church membership/community. Maintains a healthy attitude and support for our Lead Pastor and team. A person who has a strong prayer life. Understanding of current events and social media.

Skills

Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of staff, community by preaching when called upon. Listening skills with the ability to interpret and respond to personal and confidential situations. Ability to manage multiple priorities and events. Ability to use Google Workspace, internet, email, and social media resources. Deep understanding of discipleship and pastoral care in a church context. Awareness of current cultural and social trends impacting ministry. Supportive of the leadership team and church's philosophy of ministry.

Working Conditions

Travel to various locations and facilities is required. Inside and outside in a variety of venues.

Physical Demands

This is a role that is not an hourly employee. Therefore, this person would be willing to be called on to do ministry after hours if called on to do so. Walking, standing, sitting and occasional waiting. Light lifting, bending, pushing, and pulling. Ability to drive or airline travel, international and nationally.

Environmental Conditions

Some work will be performed in an office environment likeness with proper heating, cooling, and lighting. Exposure to health care facilities, schools, and most other venues where people gather.

Ability to manage multiple demands on time and energy. Maintain balance between Spiritual Enrichment, Learning Opportunities, Socialization, Service Opportunities and Needed Services.
