JOB SUMMARY The secretary shall perform general office work to assist church staff with executive and clerical duties. This is an hourly wage position offered at $15-16/hour for 24 hours per week (Monday through Thursday from 9:00a to 3:00p) QUALIFICATIONS Formal Education: High School Graduate Office Skills: Typing, filing, computer literacy – Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Experience with church database management software and/or other financial software is a plus Personality Factors: Exercises confidentiality, tact, and courtesy. Must be detail oriented, motivated, and have the ability to work independently RESPONSIBILITIES General Office Duties – Provide routine office and administrative support to facilitate smooth daily operations of the church. Prepare and maintain files and keep accurate records; includes compilation of periodic or occasional reports, as needed. Order and purchase office, custodial, communion, and kitchen supplies, as needed, when given a specific order from committee chairs/authorized personnel. Order and maintain literature and supplies for church ministries, like Sunday School. Open, process, and distribute mail daily. Retrieve deposit bag from the bank each week. Maintain appointments of ministerial staff and church calendar in office or on website. Maintain church mailing lists and membership data. Maintain and publish church volunteer teams/committees' schedules. Coordinate availability of part-time volunteer office assistance on weekdays the secretary must be absent. Process calendar requests/building use requests/vehicles requests and schedule on church calendars. Keep record of attendance of Sunday School/worship in Realm Communications – Maintain church communicationsNotify committee members of meeting dates and prepare reports for meetings. Maintain weekly listing of church prayer requests for Wednesday services. Send out prayer requests and reminders via email. Prepare and mail regular newsletter and church bulletin Manage requests and granting of church letters for members Provide clerical support to assist church staff and volunteers (Sunday School teachers/special events, etc. (limited basis) Assist with the creation and publication of brochures and other informational material Work with the Benevolent Committee and community groups to process benevolent requests (limited basis) Other duties as assigned.
