Job Description:
Spring Cypress Presbyterian Church (Presbyterian Church in America, PCA) is seeking a Seminary Intern to join our ministry team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for serving the local church, an energetic and outgoing personality, and a gift for connecting with people of all ages. This individual should love God, love people, be a humble servant of Jesus Christ, have the requisite Spiritual gifts to be an Elder, and sense a call to ministry.
Primary Responsibilities:
Youth, Family, and Christian Education Ministry: Lead and facilitate the work of the congregation in assisting parents with the Christian nurture of their children (see PCA Book of Church Order 28, 56-5). Be prepared to lead and teach in the Youth ministry, including Sunday School and Youth group (ages 13-18). Be prepared to coordinate, train, assist, and lead in other ministry contexts within the church.
Oversee youth ministry ● Develop and implement curriculum, and plan for the Sunday morning gatherings (Youth Sunday School) that is engaging, Biblical, and age-appropriate. ● Coordinate and direct Youth Group meetings (currently on Wednesday night)
● Oversee youth Praise and Worship team (Recruiting, practice, and participation if able)
● Develop and incorporate discipleship opportunities that encourage youth to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ ● Create opportunities for youth to serve the Lord by serving others in the church and in the community ● Create and foster fellowship opportunities for youth and families, including weekday gatherings that are fun and engaging ● Create and support engaging summer events that encourage Youth to know Jesus Christ ● Regularly meet with youth and parents outside of ministry events ● Develop ways to know youth and steward their unique giftings ● Consistently communicate current events and future plans with parents and youth
Worship Preparation and Leadership:
- Assist in the leading of worship in rotation with the Ruling Elders
- Once Preaching Classes complete at RTS, be prepared to Preach 2-6 times per year
- Specific responsibilities within the internship can and will flex based upon the skills and abilities of the Intern. As Spiritual gifts are discerned, the Intern will be entrusted with more responsibilities based on their Spiritual gifting.

- Audio Visual recruiting and training for youth
STAFF EXPECTATIONS
- Maintain an active relationship with Jesus Christ sustained through the practice of personal spiritual disciplines.
- Embody Christlikeness and lead with humility, character, and love
- Demonstrate commitment to unity and a willingness to work in a collaborative team environment
- Be personally engaged with SCPC's mission, vision, and strategy
- Support SCPC's beliefs, core values, and practices as outlined in the Doctrinal Statement
- Attend staff and leadership meetings as scheduled
- Reports to the Senior Pastor. Performance will be evaluated every six months.
Commitment
- Hours: 20 a week (on average)

Position Qualifications:
The Seminary Intern and Director of Youth Ministries should be a student at within the RTS network working towards the Master of Divinity (MDiv) degree who is able to transfer to RTS Houston to complete the degree while interning and ministering. The candidate must be thoroughly committed to the historic Reformed Faith as set forth in the Westminster Standards, and desirous of serving with a staff and a Session who seek consciously to be wholly Reformed and Presbyterian. The candidate should, ideally, be ready to pursue ordination upon completion of the internship and seminary within the Presbyterian Church in America. He should be mature, and though age will not be a determining factor, he should be in good health, with the physical and emotional capacity to carry the workload of pastoral ministry.

- Full subscription to the Westminster Standards (not good faith subscription)
- An ordinary means of grace ministry
- Expository (lectio continua) preaching

- Biblical family management, personal and family worship
- A collegial, team-oriented pastoral ministry
- Self-disciplined and self-motivated
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- A heart of forgiveness
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Pursuing the MDiv within the RTS network (just starting is included)
- Experience working within student ministry is preferred
Qualifications: A successful Seminary Intern is characterized by the following:
- Has an abiding love for Christ and an enduring love for Christ's Church despite her flaws
- Is aligned with the vision, values, and theology of SCPC
- Is ordainable in the Presbyterian Church in America
- Has the desire to motivate, inspire, and lead teams of volunteers
- Has a love for children and youth
- Has a love for teaching the Bible
Music Ministry Qualifications: (nice to have)
- Can participate in the music ministry of the church (desired but in no way required)
- Applicants with experience/ability in music will be given special consideration
Audio/Visual Qualifications: (we are willing to train)
- Has technical skills to assist in the Audio/Visual inner workings of the worship service.
- Audio/Visual skills will also be given special consideration
