Senior Minister

Lifebridge Christian Church in Decatur, AL seeks a full-time senior minister. Desired applicant has 5-10 years experience serving in the Independent Christian Church and a proven track record of ministry growth. Duties will include ministerial responsibilities such as preaching, teaching, leading and vision casting, administrative responsibilities such as staff supervision and volunteer training and other responsibilities such as church camp involvement. Salary, vacation and benefits are negotiable.

Lifebridge Christian Church was founded in 1972, and historically has been a long-term employer of ministers. The city of Decatur is located in North Alabama, approximately 20 miles from Huntsville, which is now the largest and most rapidly growing city in the state of Alabama. Poised for growth along the banks of the Tennessee River, Decatur offers a mix of outdoor recreation, historical attractions and a growing arts & culture scene. It is often considered an affordable housing option to nearby Huntsville and Madison.

Qualifications

Candidate should be a person with character above reproach, compassion for others, trust worthiness, reliability and self control (i.e. bearing fruits of the Spirit). He should be community and missions minded, self-motivated, and an outstanding manager and leader of people, including staff, leadership team and the congregation. A degree from an Independent Christian Church-affiliated or Restoration Movement college is desired. 5-10 years experience serving in a Christian Church and a proven track record of ministry growth are essential.

Ministerial Responsibilities

1. Preach clear and concise Bible-based Sunday morning sermons that inspire and provide application to daily life.

2. Serve under the oversight of the eldership, or in the absence of elders, the Leadership Team board members.

3. Lead the church's discipling efforts, providing training on a periodic basis.

4. Oversee and participate in life groups and provide teaching materials as needed. Recruit, train and develop qualified group leaders.

5. Oversee church staff and coordinate work efforts to support the church's mission statement.

6. Represent the church at community events when possible.

7. Be available for counseling and spiritual guidance. Conduct baptisms, hospital visits, weddings and funerals as needed.

8. Lead the congregation in local, non-local, and foreign mission work and evangelism. Encourage church member participation as well.

9. Volunteer time as needed in support of church activities.

Administrative Responsibilities

1. Oversee Sunday morning services and any special services in conjunction with the worship minister.

2. Recruit and train qualified ministry team leaders and provide development training and counseling as needed.

3. Teach adult or youth classes as needed.

4. Support church camp and camp activities as directed by the elders.

5. Oversee the day to day activities of church operation.

6. Provide periodic reviews of other full or part-time staff members in conjunction with the elders.

Reporting Activities

1. Report directly to elders for the overall direction.

2. Report to church leadership team periodically to coordinate and plan ministries and activities.

General Expectations

1. The duties for this position should require approximately 40 hours per week (including Sunday services) and to include a reasonable amount of time in the office to be available for other ministerial tasks (i.e. pastoral duties, addressing inquiries concerning Lifebridge, and administrative responsibilities).

2. Must exhibit a high level of professionalism and personal integrity in dealing with church matters.

3. Must communicate immediately to the elders for any absence due to illness, emergency or other reason.

4. Faithful attendance at regular services and special events in the life of the church required.

5. Must abide by any interoffice policies directed by the elders, especially with respect to internet usage and use of church property or funds. Failure to abide by any of these policies is grounds for immediate dismissal.

6. Must abide by Biblical principals in the conduct of personal matters to the best of ability. Public activity that is considered contrary to the princples practiced by the church will be addressed by the elders and may be grounds for dismissal if the situation continues.

7. A background check and drug test will be required.
