FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH-TEHACHAPI Tehachapi, California First Baptist Church-Tehachapi is seeking a full time dedicated Pastor to replace our previous pastor who recently retired. We are an autonomous church whose purpose is to raise up people for Christ. We are a loving and caring congregation who pray for and support each other as well as local and global missions. We are a part of the Southern Baptist Convention and adhere to the Southern Baptist Faith & Message 2000. Our attendance runs 40-50 for Sunday services and 30 for Sunday School. We aspire to bring people to a loving relationship with Jesus Christ through worship, fellowship and outreach and to equip our congregation to grow and share our faith. The pastor we choose will need to have the same goals. Tehachapi is a small, diverse community located 35 miles southeast of Bakersfield in the Tehachapi mountains. Our population is approximately 13,000. Tehachapi is famous for the railroad ‘Loop' which is a well-known tourist destination. We are also known for our vast wind farms. We are an active community with major stores as well as a developed downtown with many local merchants that provide various shopping experiences and restaurants to satisfy your appetite. Pastor Qualifications: · Must have a strong, growing relationship with Jesus Christ which is evident in his personal and professional life. · Must be the kind of biblically based leader required in 1 Timothy 3: 1-7 · Must have experience in church leadership that would meet the needs of a growing congregation. · Must be a multi-tasker. · Must be a leader of leaders who raises up and develops in the church body. · Must have excellent verbal and written skills. · Must have a B.S. degree, preferably in theological training from an accredited Southern Baptist institution. · Must be ordained and certified. · Must abstain from use of illicit drugs, tobacco and intoxicating beverages. · Must have a servant's heart and a heart for people. · Must adhere to and believe in the Southern Baptist Faith & Message 2000. Note: First Baptist Church-Tehachapi does not adhere to the Calvinist teaching on salvation and evangelism. We follow: John 3:16 – Matthew 28: 19-20 – Acts 2:21. Pastor Responsibilities: Our Pastor will be required to: · Present well-organized, Bible based sermons on Sundays · Provide pastoral care by visiting the sick, elderly and bereaved. · Lead the congregation to follow the Great Commission to reach the lost. · Administer ordinances of the church such as baptisms and communion as needed. · Provide guidance and oversight to church committees. · Perform weddings & funerals. · Provide counseling to individuals as well as families. · Provide oversight and direction to the church in the implementation or programs of ministry and missions. · Maintain regular office hours and be available to church members.
