First Baptist Church, located in downtown Rocky Mount, NC is prayerfully seeking God's will as we search for a Senior Pastor. Our established mission is: To glorify God and make disciples among our neighbors and the nations. First Baptist Church was established in 1880 and has a rich legacy of biblical faithfulness and missional emphasis. By God's grace, in her 144 years, FBCRM has enjoyed collaborating on local church plants, working with regional denominational efforts, and vibrant mission partnerships across North America and around the world. We are a conservative Southern Baptist Church that adheres to the "Baptist Faith and Message 2000."

Rocky Mount is a growing city located 50 miles east of Raleigh. There are many local activities and unique opportunities for entertainment. Some examples: Rocky Mount Event Center (with arcade, soft play for children, indoor ropes course and wall. Also hosting sporting events such as basketball and volleyball with participating teams from across the nation), Rocky Mount Sports Complex (athletic facilities for local sports also hosting travel baseball, softball, and soccer tournaments with participating teams from across the nation) Rocky Mount Mills (local dining options). We also have many parks and opportunities to explore nature. The National Association of Realtors recently named Rocky Mount one of the top 5 most desirable markets in the country to purchase a home. Educationally, Rocky Mount is served by Nash County Public Schools and Edgecombe County Public Schools systems. There are multiple Christian school options along with a private school academy. Rocky Mount is also home to North Carolina Wesleyan College, Nash Community College and Edgecombe Community College. Job Title: Senior Pastor

Position Summary:

The Senior Pastor will serve as the spiritual leader of the congregation to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the church and community. He will provide administrative oversight, visionary leadership, and most importantly, spiritual direction and pastoral care for our congregation,

The Senior Pastor is ultimately accountable to God as well as our congregation. He maintains a working relationship with our Executive Committee, Deacon Body, Personnel Committee, and various other committees to provide structure for the success of sharing the Gospel.

Responsibilities:

· Provide biblical instruction through preaching and teaching the Word of God as inspired by the Holy Spirit.

· Lead, equip, and empower other leaders through prayer, discipleship, and spiritual growth.

· Equip the congregation to do the work of ministry.

· Provide pastoral care, counseling, visitation, and support for members as needed.

Administrative Leadership:

· Oversee the church's strategic planning for the continuing fulfillment of FBC's vision.

· Lead, support, and coordinate with church staff to advance the Gospel of Jesus through the mission and vision of the church.

· Partner with our Executive Committee, Deacon Body, and committees to ensure effective governance and decision making.

· Foster collaboration, trust, open communication, expediently address conflict, and create a positive workplace culture.

Outreach, Evangelism, and Missions:

· Lead the church in our outreach efforts to our community and beyond.

· Provide guidance and support for mission programs and initiatives.

· Encourage, train, and equip the congregation to be engaging in personal evangelism.

Community Engagement:

· Represent the church in community activities and civic matters.

· Foster ongoing relationships with local ministries and build relationships with other like-minded, local ministries

Qualifications:

Education:

· At least a Master's of Divinity or equivalent degree.

· A minimum 10 years of ministry experience that demonstrates a progressive increase in responsibility leading to and including senior pastor experience.

Skills and Abilities:

· Strong biblical knowledge and theological understanding.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· Proven leadership and administrative abilities.

· Ability to work collaborative with diverse groups of people.

· Compassionate and empathic pastoral skills
