Meet Golden's Point Christian Church:
The early days of Golden's Point Christian Church go back to the mid 1800s, when 24 individuals organized and met in the Golden's Point Schoolhouse. While that schoolhouse still exists as a residence today, the church continued to grow and a new church was built. Later, a new building was constructed where Golden's Point Christian Church is located today.
Over the years and as the congregation continued to grow, renovations and new facilities were added. GPC was historically a Disciples of Christ congregation until the 1980s when the congregation became independent. Today, GPC is an intergenerational church with many families that come from the surrounding areas. Activities and ministries abound at GPC and there is a true spirit of community, outreach, service, and worship!
About the Senior Pastor:
The ideal Senior Pastor at Golden's Point Church (GPC) will provide Bible-based teaching, support the ministries of GPC, and perform other job functions common to the position.
The role of the Pastor is to assist the Elders in overseeing the life and direction of the church. He will have a firm grasp on the purpose, values and strategy of the church and the ability to align staff and key leadership teams with its mission.
The Pastor will offer pastoral care to the congregation alongside church leaders. He will ensure that the systems, practices, and policies of the church responsibly and effectively support its ministry activities.
Job Description
The Senior Pastor's Responsibilities Include:
Preaching and Teaching
- The Pastor will deliver a bible-based message at Sunday worship services and at special events as needed. The Pastor also will provide guidance in planning and executing the education programs and other programs in discipleship and ministry training, in coordination with elders and church leaders. This will include personal discipling and mentoring and equipping members for works of service.
Counsel and Care
- The Pastor will coordinate with Elders to provide shepherding and pastoral care of the congregation. This will include contact and visitation for shut-ins and sick, individual and family counseling and guidance as able and needed, and monitoring the spiritual health of the congregation.
Leadership and Planning
- The Pastor will join Elders in discerning vision for GPC, defining goals, coordinating execution of GPC's purpose, and ensuring staffing, facilities, and programs are effectively aligned to meet goals.
Social Media
- The Pastor will ensure GPC social media is up-to-date to promote GPC in the surrounding communities. This includes posting or oversight of current pictures, calendar, announcements, etc. Initial media to be addressed is GPC website and Facebook.
Community Involvement
- The Pastor will be personally involved in the community however he feels he can best be involved. The idea is to create relationships inside our communities.
Administration
- The Pastor oversees and executes the administration of the church through appropriate team members, and ensures the completion of ministry, business, facility support functions through staff and congregation.
- He will: Conduct marriages and funerals, supervise the Church Secretary, oversee development of and adherence to church policies and procedures, maintain contact with other pastors and community leaders to coordinate and advance godly goals.

Education & Experience
- The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree; a graduate degree is preferred (or pursuing); and 5-7 years of experience in a pastoral role.
