Job Description for Senior Pastor:

The Senior Pastor is the spiritual leader of Green Street Baptist Church (GSBC) and is responsible for proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ through preaching, teaching, Biblical scripture, engaging in pastoral care and providing administrative leadership in all areas of the church. The Senior Pastor will provide oversight, leadership, and preach the Word in order to equip the members and reach those in need of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Minimum Requirements:

• Qualifications as outlined in 1 Timothy 3, Titus 1:7-9, and 1 Peter 5:1-3
• Confessing born again believer in Jesus Christ
• Ordained to the Gospel ministry and gives evidence of a divine call to the ministry
• Complete agreement with GSBC's Statement of Faith which aligns with the Baptist Faith & Message (2000)
• Maintains a close personal walk with Jesus Christ evidenced by his example and spiritual leadership
• Graduate of an accredited college or university, graduate of an accredited Southern Baptist Seminary, and an active member of the Southern Baptist Convention
• Ten (10) years in a Senior Pastor leadership position

Principal Function

• The Senior Pastor shall be responsible for leading the ministries of GSBC through preaching and teaching the Bible. He shall be the administrative head of the church and shall provide oversight and supervisory responsibility over all church ministers, employees, and leaders of other church ministry areas.
• The Senior Pastor is responsible to God while GSBC will hold the Senior Pastor accountable for the well being of the church and its ministries as per the church Constitution and Bylaws.
• On an annual basis, the personnel committee will review the Senior Pastor performance.
