Pastoral Job Description (Bi-vocational)

for Providence Baptist Church

In accordance with Bylaws and church leadership

Worship Service:

Ø Conducts all church services/bible studies on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings

Ø Delivers sermons in a clear, logical manner that expounds the Gospel and defends the Bible without error. Sermons should have solid Biblical teaching with life applications. The candidate should embrace the gifts of the spirit, while focusing on the fruit of the Spirit.

Ø Leads in the observance of ordinances (i.e. the Lord's Supper/ Holy Communion, Baptisms and Dedications)

Ø Oversees filling of the pulpit on any Sunday he is not present in order to ensure doctrinal consistency

Ø Performs weddings and officiates funerals for members

Pastoral Care as Needed:

Ø Visits the sick and shut-in

Ø Leads in pre-marital counseling

Ø Provides support and counseling to bereaved families prior to a funeral as well as follow-up visits after the funeral

Ø Provides spiritual counseling to those facing major life difficulties.

Christian Education:

Ø Supports religious educational programs for all ages including Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and Youth Bible Study

Ø Develops and conducts training for all Associate Ministers

Leadership and Guidance:

Ø Provides spiritual inspiration and guidance

Ø Maps out objectives and plans overall strategy for enhancing church growth through the use of new ideas for activities and projects

Ø Participates in church activities and fosters fellowship at church gatherings

Administrative:

Ø Trains, works, interacts and communicates with the congregation

Ø Moderates church business meetings and calls meetings in a timely matter

Ø Meet all scheduled deadlines

Ø Provides administrative leadership and oversees all ministries of the church

Ø Maintains harmony and resolves conflict among church members concerning church programs, finances, elections and etc.

Ø Conducts annual Consecration Service for all church officers

Ø Provides timely communication to the church body in weekly announcements

Ø Shall be the Supervisor of all pastoral and paid staff of the church and periodically evaluate, counsel, encourage and lovingly correct staff members as appropriate

Credentials, Education and Experience:

Ø Most preferably be a licensed/ordained SBC Baptist Minister

Ø A degree and pastoral experience is preferred but not required
