Job Overview

This is a full-time salaried position at Sylvania Presbyterian Church in Ward, AR. We are currently affiliated with the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC). Our website is www.sylvaniapc.org. This is a rural community but nestled between two growing cities.

Education Requirements: MDiv or comparable graduate degree from an accredited seminary (preferably of the Reformed tradition). Ordained or eligible for ordination by the Evangelical Presbyterian Church.

Exceptions: ***The Session MAY consider senior year seminarians who could complete their seminary degree online or through some other type of program while serving in the Teaching Elder (Pastor) role.

Job Description

Primary responsibilities:

Preaching (expositional) and teaching. Conduct sacraments, weddings, funerals, counseling, etc. Develop order or worship (readings, prayers, hymns, etc.). Lead weekly worship services and special services. Provide organization and support for children/youth as needed. Pastoral care and visitation (all members and shut-ins). Organize and lead new member & leadership classes. Moderate Session & congregational meetings. Attend Presbytery and General Assembly activities.
