Position Summary

The Senior Pastor serves as the spiritual leader of the church, providing vision, biblical teaching, leadership development, pastoral care, and oversight of ministries in alignment with Scripture and the church’s mission. The Senior Pastor equips the church body to grow in faith, love, and service, and shepherds the congregation with integrity and humility.

Key Responsibilities

1. Preaching & Teaching

• Prepare and deliver expository, gospel-centered sermons weekly.

• Teach regularly in other settings (Bible studies, classes, retreats).

• Ensure doctrinal soundness across all church teaching.

2. Vision & Leadership

• Cast and implement a Spirit-led vision for the church’s future.

• Lead and equip staff, elders, and ministry leaders.

• Oversee strategic planning, goal setting, and mission alignment.

3. Pastoral Care & Discipleship

• Provide counseling, visitation, and prayer for members in need.

• Perform weddings, funerals, baptisms, and communion.

• Encourage spiritual growth through discipleship and mentoring.

4. Administration & Oversight

• Supervise church staff, delegating responsibilities appropriately.

• Partner with the church board/elders on budgeting and governance.

• Ensure compliance with church policies and legal responsibilities.

5. Outreach & Community Engagement

• Lead the church in local and global missions.

• Build relationships with community leaders and other churches.

• Represent the church publicly in a manner that honors Christ.

Qualifications

• A personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

• A deep commitment to the authority of Scripture.

• A Master of Divinity (M.Div.) or equivalent preferred.

• Ordination and alignment with [denomination or theological statement].
