Job Description:

Preaching of the Word of God & the Administration of the Sacraments Trinity PCA places a high priority on sermon preparation and the proclamation of God's Word, as well as the administration of the sacraments. • Expository Preaching – a commitment to scriptural preaching, communicated faithfully and clearly across a spectrum of ages and educational levels, proclaiming the whole counsel of God. • Commitment to the Reformed Faith – holds fast to the doctrines of the Westminster standards, unflinching, yet gracious toward Christian brothers and sisters who have differing views. • Pastoral Heart – desires to build relationships, disciple believers, and counsel those in need. Exhibits an approachable personality. Is prepared in season and out of season to correct, rebuke, and encourage, with great patience and careful instruction. • Christian Character – reflects the characteristics set forth in I Timothy 3:1–7 and Titus 1:5–9. Maintains a daily devotional life in the study of God's Word and prayer. • Church Practice – Preach the Word at the regular Lord's Day services and special services such as Christmas Eve, Good Friday, and Maundy Thursday as required. • Means of Grace – Administer the sacraments of Baptism and The Lord's Supper. Worship Services

Position Qualifications:

• The pastor will collaborate weekly with the assigned assisting elder to provide guidance on the content and structure of the service. • The pastor will work with the music director in planning worship services for Sunday mornings and some special services throughout the church calendar year. Sunday School • Assist and encourage the Sunday school administrator and teachers. • Teach the New Membership and Communicant classes in a consistent manner. • Teach periodic adult Sunday school courses and small group studies. • Train new elder and deacon candidates along with the Session and Deaconate. Pastoral Care • Visit the sick, bereaved, and shut-in. The pastor should ensure appropriate visitation practices for the sick and bereaved and walk with people through challenging times such as injury or job loss. • The pastor should meet with members of the congregation as needed to assess the need for additional shepherding or counseling (pastor should not be engaged in long-term counseling). • Provide premarital counseling and conduct weddings. • Preside over funerals; meet with families for planning of service, provide grief support. • Participate in and lead family visitation program with elders and deacons. The pastor should, at a minimum, visit every household at least once each calendar year. • Promote and encourage fellowship and discipleship events for the men, women, and children of the church. Evangelism & Outreach • Train, lead, and motivate congregational efforts in local evangelism and foreign missions, per Matthew 28:18. • Help coordinate follow-up with visitors and unchurched families. • Work with Missions Committee in vision and implementation of mission projects. • Participate in approved mission trips of the church. • Assist and participate in the annual Live Nativity and other special events. • Be visible and involved in the community. The Session • The pastor is expected to work with the team of Ruling Elders and Deacons who assist in overseeing the outreach ministries of the church. • The pastor will report to, and is under the direct supervision of, the Session. • The pastor will moderate Session meetings, attend Deaconate meetings, and attend Committee meetings as able. • The pastor should regularly identify matters that require the Session's attention and provide notice of them to the clerk for inclusion on business meeting agendas. • The pastor should provide pastoral insight and perspective in all matters, vote with a scripture-bound conscience. • The pastor will engage in continual training and discipleship for the current Session and Deacons. • Engagement with our Presbytery and the General Assembly is expected. Administration • General oversight and responsibility of managing day-to-day church life. • Supervise ministerial team members and youth workers. Working Conditions • The Pastor will have the freedom to determine whether he will work from the Church or home. He must, however, be available to visit members at the church, in homes, hospitals, etc. Working hours can be unpredictable and from time to time may require emergency visitations with members, attendance at evening classes, committee meetings, special services and other church functions. It should be fully understood that the session expects the pastor to take back those personal time hours as he deems necessary.

Trinity Presbyterian Church is currently seeking a full-time Senior Pastor. Trinity is a conservative, mortgage-free, PCA church, situated on 10 acres nestled between Union and Washington, Missouri, at the foothills of the Ozarks. The city of Union (our city of address) is the county seat for beautiful Franklin County, MO, the third largest county in the state of Missouri. Both of these towns are experiencing growth, and we see this as an opportunity, presented by our Lord, to fulfill the Great Commission – to go out and proclaim the wonderful Gospel of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We are looking for a shepherd who seeks after God's will, whose life is Christ-centered, God-Honoring, and Spirit-filled – One who loves God's people and will shepherd, disciple, and strengthen His people at Trinity – A man who will faithfully preach a gospel-saturated message, through the power of the Holy Spirit, being faithful in content and context of the scripture passage being preached upon. Candidates seeking the position should have the required Master of Divinity degree, be a member in good standing of a conservative, reformed Christian church and should be ordainable in the Presbyterian Church in America.
