Senior Pastor
A biblically qualified pastor as described in key passages such as 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9, leading in the spirit of 1 Peter 5:1-4 and in the purview of Acts 20:28. This person will shepherd God's people with a heart for pastoral care, biblical teaching, and the mission of making disciples.
Due to the current financial capacity of our church, this role is structured to be either bi-vocational or part-time. We recognize that this requires a unique calling and are committed to supporting our pastor in every way possible as they balance ministry responsibilities with other vocational commitments.
In Your Role... You Will:
Shepherd and lead our congregation of various age groups which will include:– Regularly meet with members to provide pastoral care such as discipleship and counsel to members of all age groups. – Work in conjunction with our worship leader to lead our Sunday morning gatherings, which will include preaching. – Work alongside our board of deacons to help see to the immediate needs of the church. – Work in conjunction with our children's ministry director to shepherd our youth when needed. – Plan, as you see fit, ministry opportunities which may include outreach events for our community and in-reach events for our church. – Conduct membership interviews for prospective members. – Serve as a pastor and elder of the church, carrying out general shepherding duties as a part of the pastoral staff.
Who you will report to:
The pastor is ultimately accountable to Jesus Christ, the Chief Shepherd (1 Peter 5:4), and under His authority, he serves the congregation. As a church that upholds congregationalism, we believe that the final earthly authority in matters of doctrine, membership, and discipline rests with the assembled body of believers (Matthew 18:17; 1 Corinthians 5:4-5). The pastor is entrusted with leading through the ministry of the Word, shepherding the flock, and equipping the saints for the work of ministry (Ephesians 4:11-12), but he does so as a servant of the church, not as its ruler (Mark 10:42-45). He is accountable to the congregation for his teaching, leadership, and character, and the church, in turn, is called to follow his leadership as he follows Christ (Hebrews 13:17; 1 Timothy 5:17).
How you will succeed: – A growing desire for Jesus and His gospel. – An understanding of God's authority as the true shepherd of the church. – A passion for the Word. – A passion for serving God by serving God's people. – A commitment to remaining holy and repentant. – A commitment to graciousness for sin. – A complete theological alignment with our church's statement of faith. – A commitment to obedience to the Great Commission.
