Job Overview

Wheatland Community Church (WCC) is an elder-led, inter-generational, family oriented EFCA affiliated church located in Rush, NY. Rush is a rural suburb of Rochester, NY which is in Western NY. Typical service size ranges from 80-120, with a mixed worship style including traditional hymns and contemporary worship, public scripture reading, prayer, and a combination of expository and topical sermons. WCC supports various local and international mission groups and missionaries so that as many people as possible will have a chance to hear about Jesus.

• Active Youth and AWANA ministries attended by young people from inside and outside our church.
• Small groups for men, women, families, and young adults.
• Prayer meetings and special theology events.

Job Description

• Seek to know and love the people of Wheatland Community Church (WCC).
• To carry out the mission, vision, and strategy of WCC.
• To oversee and manage the staff positions of the church and support the ministry leaders: that they are informed, trained, and well-equipped in their responsibilities.
• To preach Sunday morning services.
• To ensure that counseling, mentoring, and personal growth opportunities are available to the congregation as needed.
• To work with the worship leader(s) to ensure that the Sunday morning worship service is well-organized and planned.
• Work with the elders to oversee and manage the church budget; write an annual report to the congregation; participate in monthly Leadership Team and elder meetings; participate in periodic evaluations with the elders.
• Develop as a pastor by reading books/articles, attending conferences, taking classes, attending pastoral support groups, etc.
• To establish a relationship with another mature Christian for the purpose of accountability, mentoring, and support. Ideally this would be someone outside of WCC.
• Officiate weddings and other life events in the church family.
