Job Description
Antioch Church is currently seeking a qualified man who feels called to serve full-time as staff pastor among a team of fellow lay pastors. This man will need to have the leadership qualities and personal fortitude to manage the responsibility of pastoral shepherding while overseeing the preaching ministry of the church. The successful candidate will have the benefit of leaning on a plurality of pastors with giftings who all share in the responsibility of caring for and shepherding the members of Antioch Church. The pastors of Antioch are seeking a brother who is willing to enter into a fellowship of reciprocal trust and service to the Lord Jesus Christ and his bride.
The staff pastor needs to be able to clearly articulate and communicate with the pastors how they are managing, delegate responsibilities as needed, and accept the recommendations or leadership of the collective pastors.
The pastor team should develop a space for delegation of that shared responsibility and in what cases the team will take on engaging with individuals most likely via their FG and personal relationships or along with ministry care area.
Leading Antioch is a shared responsibility among the pastors, but the available hours and visibility of the role will demand more from this first-among-equals role. They'll be expected to carry the higher volume of people traffic as it pertains to being available, but not carry any burden alone.
Shepherd
Shepherding should be a key role for this person to hold in high regard. Life, parenting, and counseling experience will be invaluable to the congregation.
He will have a gentle and warm personality with a desire to connect with people, to walk with them through difficult times, and recover from past church and life hurts. He will spend time praying for our congregation and encouraging prayer and fasting.
An area of weakness of Antioch is evangelism. Having a staff pastor who is gifted in this area domestically and/or internationally and has a desire to advance the Gospel would benefit Antioch and our ministries' impact.
Overseer
A leader of high character and integrity, willing to do the right thing even when it's hard. Having the ability to articulate and encourage Antioch's vision in a variety of mediums, experience as a collaborative leader over others, and building strong teams by developing leaders will be excellent value adds to Antioch.
Having the ability to draw from Pastors, Deacons and partners' strengths rather than attempt to do it all on their own, will be required for this person to be successful at Antioch. However, this person is likely going to need a diverse set of skills for this role, similar to an entrepreneur with the ability to wear different hats.
This person must have a strong enough personality and confidence to push for their vision and desires but trust and humility to accept the decision of the collective Pastors. He must be a strong collaborative leader to work with the pastor team as an equal, but direct/administrate as-needed retreats/pastors meetings and further Antioch's vision.
A staff pastor will support networking, leading the paid staff responsibilities and church facility needs, as well as guiding the pastoral team in cultivating a strong team, matters of church discipline and leading administratively.
This role will provide the staff pastor with the bandwidth to push the vision of Antioch forward and support the execution of the vision.
Preacher
This person must have a Lord-led desire to preach the word. a skilled communicator and a hunger to improve at this skill. They must be comfortable spending extensive time in the Word, time with the Lord and being led in seeing a vision for how the Word will be shared throughout the year to the congregation and comfortable sharing the Gospel with believers and lost people.
Our staff pastor will carry the majority of the preaching responsibilities as well as filling out the schedule from our pastor team or other outside speakers. We would expect preaching from the Word and to hear the Gospel. This will require time spent in a deep understanding of Scripture and investing in their personal development as a presenter of the Word.
The staff pastor will collaborate closely with the worship leader to prepare Sunday morning services. Directing and encouraging the Sunday morning requirements and supporting ministry leaders by encouraging members to serve and support them in directing their ministry areas. Along with seeking opportunities to utilize Sunday as a way to advance the work done in our community-facing ministries.
