Community Overview: Nederland, Texas, (pop. 18,856) is a bedroom community in the middle of the Beaumont-Port Arthur Metropolitan Statistical Area (pop. 397,565), known locally as the Golden Triangle. The petrochemical refineries and associated businesses are the major employers in the area followed by education, retail, and banking. In addition to a thriving downtown shopping district on Boston Avenue, residents enjoy shopping and dining opportunities not found in towns of its size.

Position Overview: This is a full-time position on our Pastoral Staff reporting to Pastor Dr. Jason Burden. For this role, you will need to live in or near Nederland, Texas, and be required to work Sundays, Wednesdays and other evenings as needed. You can expect to work 40 to 45 hours per week on a set schedule, with Saturdays and an additional weekday off, with a need to alter your schedule during special ministry events throughout the year. Therefore, some flexibility in scheduling is required.

Summary of Position: Plan, direct, conduct, evaluate, and administer comprehensive youth ministry relevant to today's youth taking into consideration the spiritual, physical, recreational, social and psychological development of youth and the dynamics of their family environment. Direct the teaching programs of the youth department to include but not limited to Sunday School and Discipleship Training in cooperation with the Pastor and a volunteer leadership group composed of youth leaders and parent volunteers.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Youth Program

Relate the youth to the overall life of the church and the church to the needs of its youth.Lead youth to recognize the call of God in their life relating to vocation.Conduct weekly services and/or ministry activities. Strive to enlist the youth in worship,Sunday School, Bible study, prayer, and other Christian exercises such as youth choir,Discipleship Training and Missions.Plan yearly youth emphasis in coordination with the Associate and Worship Pastors toinvolve youth in areas of church leadership.Foster, promote, and actively participate in youth programs that provide spiritual growth, recreational and fellowship activities such as mission opportunities, camps retreats, DiscipleNow weekends, Hot Hearts, and community services.Implement changes in the youth ministry as needed for organization, space use, equipment and furnishing needs, policies and procedures, materials, programs, curriculum, education methods after coordination with Youth Team/Parent Committee and the Pastor.Be responsible for resources, tools, equipment and properties entrusted for the use with the youth ministry.Evaluate and review the youth program annually with the YouthTeam/Parent Committee and Pastor. Ensure the program is effective and reaches youth and their families for Christ.Organize and conduct parent meetings to inform youth and parents of planned events and mission opportunities for the year. Develop and include an annual calendar of events.Outreach Program

Establish a regular program of visitation for and with the youth in cooperation with the overall church outreach program.Visit middle school and high school campuses, have personal contact with students at school approved times. Maintain appropriate contact with an emphasis on reaching not just the youth but the entire family.Counsel students and their parents/guardians on issues relating to salvation, their overall spiritual life, college choice, vocation selection, social and family relationships.Attend church-wide activities/functions and extracurricular activities to develop rapport with the community and all students, not just the students of First Baptist Church Nederland.Volunteer Program

Create a volunteer leadership team composed of youth leaders and parent/guardian volunteers. Use this group for brainstorming ideas and enlisting help for project planning to collaborate in long range and evaluation of the youth ministry program.Ensure adult workers are trained to lead youth to salvation and to nurture them in Christian development.Ensure youth leaders and volunteers are trained and always in compliance with the church child protection policy.Ensure adequate adult sponsors are present for all youth programs and activities taking into account proper group practices to assure all rules and procedures are followed for child and volunteer protection.Professional Growth

Participate in state, national, international and convention-sponsored youth programs/events or mission activities to promote professional and spiritual renewal and growth.Serve on church committees as deemed appropriate to stay cognizant of church needs and to ensure that youth and youth perspectives are considered and part of all church programs.Obtain a commercial driver's license to drive all church vehicles.Function as member of the pastoral staff performing baptism services, weddings, andfunerals as related to the needs of the church.Lead by example in faithful church attendance and through tithe.Administration Duties

Maintain an electronic record keeping system for all youth ministry related information. This database should include fundraising and any expenses or monies collected.Work closely with the volunteer leadership team to carry out the church youth program and prepare an annual budget for ministry needs. Administer the approved budget according to church policy.Be responsible to the Pastor, Financial Secretary and Finance Committee for expenditures, submission of receipts for expenses, cash allowances and surplus cash at the end of trips, events and activities to ensure budget compliance.Oversee Youth fundraising efforts with the help of the Youth Team/Parent Committee.Keep an active, appropriate and visible social media presence representing First Baptist Church of Nederland's youth program and activities.Work with the Pastor and appropriate staff in securing teaching material that will help provide the presentation of sound theological teaching of the scripture that is consistent with Southern Baptist theology.Assist in hospital, nursing and funeral home visitations as needed to support the families of First Baptist Church Nederland.Other duties as assigned by the Pastor.Necessary knowledge and Skills

Born again, Spirit filled Christian who demonstrates a genuine, Christ like love for people.Strong knowledge of all aspects of your ministry.Superior Knowledge of youth culture.Strong leadership and creativity skills.Ability to plan, organize and implement.Basic Qualifications

Associate Degree, preferably Bachelor's or Master's from an evangelical school in a theological field of study.Demonstrated call to youth ministry and be licensed or ordained by a local church.

Trustworthy in handling confidential and private information.Previous experience leading youth ministry in one or more churches.Church Offers:
