Student Life Minister
Job Summary:The Student Life Minister is responsible for encouraging the spiritual growth of the children God has placed within our church to become fully functioning followers of Jesus Christ. We believe that this is accomplished by partnering with parents in the discipleship of their children. The candidate for this ministry will be gifted by being able to minister to children in every stage of growth from K-12th grade. This will include the planning and implementation of weekly children's services as well as special youth events and programs designed to keep students engaged more than one day per week. Ministry Purpose: To proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, to teach the truth and inerrancy of the Bible, to promote the building of students' Christian worldview, and to implement planning the administrative aspects of the Student Life Ministry and services to the church and community. Service Relationships: The Student Life Minister reports to the Senior Pastor Job Type: Full time position based on 40 hours per week Compensation: Competitive annual salary based upon education and experience Primary Responsibilities:
Pastoral/Leadership
- Lead and organize effective programs for youth/children that combine fellowship, worship, biblical teaching, discipleship, and evangelism
- Integrate the mission and vision of RiverWind Church into youth/children ministry goals and activities
- Create and implement an overall student evangelism and discipleship strategy for the church
- Recruit, train, and shepherd all children/youth ministries volunteers
- Plan and coordinate/execute services for youth/children that are biblically accurate, culturally relevant, and energy-filled (ex. GenLight)
- Provide counseling and spiritual direction to students/parents on a regular, individual basis
- Collaborate with pastoral staff/ministry leaders to support parents in effectively fulfilling their Christian parenting roles and duties
- Be an active presence in local high schools with periodic visits to engage students at schools
- Develop and coordinate future ministry strategies such as (Wednesday night kids class, Next Level kids class, "Homeschool Hangout")
- Provide weekly ministry reports to Senior Pastor
- Assist with other pastoral duties at the request of the Senior Pastor
Administrative
- Create and manage a youth ministry calendar that drives all events, activities, and teaching within the ministry
- Coordinate the weekly RWKid's services
- Select (under the advice of the Elders) and implement the overall youth/children curriculum plans for the church for a balanced comprehensive Christian education to Students
- Coordinate and implement an annual Student Life Ministry budget proposal, and administer that budget as approved by the Elders/Church Members
- Coordinate and oversee student and family events aimed at both ministering to church membership as well as those in the surrounding community
- Implement and maintain communication with parents, volunteers and the larger community through various forms of media (e.g. social media, email, website, etc.)
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Exhibits a personal and growing relationship with God and a teachable spirit
- A love and passion for young people, evangelism and outreach
- Formal theological training from a credible theological institution preferred
- 1-2 years experience in a lead teaching role preferred
- Experience in leading and developing healthy ministry
- Excellent relational skills to communicate with students and parents
- Willingness to relate to the unique needs of teenagers in today's culture
- Self-motivated in networking and relationship building
- Team player and willing to assist other ministry leaders/staff when needed
- A member of the Riverwind Church or willing and able to become a member
