Student Minister
Oak Grove Baptist Church is looking for an Acts 6:4 minister, an individual who is committed to teaching God's Word and to prayer. The following profile represents the type of individual who meets the requirements presented in Scripture (1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, 1 Peter 5:1-4, and Ephesians 4:11-13) and aligns with the core values of our church:
- Experience:A licensed minister holding to the teachings of the Baptist Faith and Message; considerable experience as a student minister is preferred; other ministry experience will also be considered. The applicant's education should include a bachelor's degree and working towards a master's degree from an accredited seminary. Must be called by God and pursuing that call.
- Teaching:Being led by the Holy Spirit, teaches with an emphasis on exegetical/expository teaching with sound, unwavering commitment to the Word of God; teaches the whole counsel of God.
- Prayer:Prays diligently; teaches and encourages a lifestyle of prayer; is committed to both public and private prayer; leads by example.
- Leadership:Mature leader who is courageous and willing to stand on the Biblical principles; puts God first, leads with humility; has a teachable spirit, and a servantʼs heart; has a lifestyle that exemplifies Christ; provides stability and care to the church.
- Shepherding:Considers the needs of the entire church family by encouraging and reaching out to all members; watches over the flock; guards the church body from false teachings and secular ideas; expresses courage to address difficult situations with wisdom and tact; promotes a spirit of unity and love among the people; gives sound Biblical counsel, advice, and guidance while equipping believers in the faith to assist with spiritual counseling opportunities.
- Outreach/Evangelism:Utilizes the Gospel to bring people into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ through various ministries, missions, and outreach opportunities in the local community and throughout the world.
- Fellowship:Actively encourages and promotes regular Christian fellowship of all ages.
- Worship:Leads the students, volunteers and parents into an attitude and lifestyle of worship by promoting:a. Effective preaching and teaching of God's Word,b. Evangelism outreach,c. Music and praise,d. Commitment to Biblical marriage and family,e. Building of relationships,f. Dedication to prayer, andg. Effective planning and leadership
- Discipleship:Teaches believers to grow through the Word in their relationship with Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit; equips believers for witnessing, service, and discipling others.
- Administration:Works with church staff; oversees the day-to-day operation of the student ministry; delegates responsibilities effectively by encouraging the efforts of volunteers, committees, ministries, and missions to function as a unified church body.
- Family and Children:Demonstrates spiritual leadership and boundaries for his/her family; Supports children's, youth and family ministries by encouraging and equipping the church to develop godly families. Capable of advising students and volunteers regarding personal/family issues.
- Student Care:Aware of and willing to address relevant social issues, pressures, culture and values of youth, a working understanding of developmental stages, and a willingness to refer individuals to suitable support services.
