JOB DESCRIPTION: Student Minister The Student Minister is responsible for the development and implementation of the Student Ministry (grades 6-12) at Shearer Hills Baptist Church in order to effectively help students and families learn about and experience the love of God, grow in personal faith and actively participate in sharing the Gospel. RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS: • Exhibits a growing relationship with Christ through action, attitude and behavior • Embraces the vision and values of Shearer Hills Baptist Church • Passionate about ministry to students and their parents resulting in their spiritual growth • Relates to and engages with the current student culture and can speak truth relevant to that culture • Provides administrative and leadership skills in a team environment• Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills resulting in a healthy and motivating relationship with staff, volunteers and church members • Exhibits reliability, trustworthiness, initiative, and follow-through on details • Embraces innovation and creativity while adapting to growth and change. • Displays appropriate judgment, discretion, sensitivity, and confidentiality • Attends church-wide activities/functions to develop rapport within the church familyESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: • Provides vision, leadership, planning and implementation of all facets of Student Ministry (weekly and annual events) for the purpose of reaching lost students, growing students in spiritual maturity and discipleship, and engaging students to serve within the church family, our community and the world • Recognizes and encourages growth of individual student skill sets• Creates a welcoming, safe, and comforting environment for students to thrive• Teaches Biblical truths to students in applicable ways• Interacts with other SHBC ministries by involving students with other ministries• Recruits, trains, leads, and manages Student Ministry staff and volunteers• Oversees the selection and implementation of curriculum and programming• Manages Student Ministry budget and finances, policies, and facilities/equipment • Utilizes effective communication to keep students, staff, volunteers, and parents informed• Offers pastoral care and encouragement to students, parents, and volunteers
