Youth Ministry Associates are responsible for working with the youth ministry team to implement and carry out the vision of the youth ministry, grades 7 through 12, and helping youth take their next faith step on their journey with Christ. This is accomplished by developing a ministry focused on evangelism, teaching, and discipleship in our high-performance culture and mission to "Spread God's Fame by making disciples of All People". Youth Ministry Associates report to the Youth Pastor.
Job Description
Youth Ministry Associates are responsible for working with the youth ministry team to implement and carry out the vision of the youth ministry, grades 7 through 12, and helping youth take their next faith step on their journey with Christ. This is accomplished by developing a ministry focused on evangelism, teaching, and discipleship in our high-performance culture and mission to "Spread God's Fame by making disciples of All People". Youth Ministry Associates report to the Youth Pastor.
Responsibilities and Expectations
- In partnership with the youth ministry team, plan and implement a dynamic, cutting edge, Christ-centered youth ministry.
- Give leadership to weekly activities, including Growth Groups and mid-week gatherings.
- Plan and promote outings that build community and reach new youth, such as outreach events and mission opportunities.
- Plan major youth ministry events such as retreats, discipleship weekends, camps, and mission trips.
- Assist in the coordination and setup required to create worship experiences that reach prospective youth and take regular attending youth deeper in their faith walk.
- Teach mid-week worship services on a regular basis.
- Be actively involved in campus ministry by making regular campus visits, attending Christian school clubs, sporting events, concerts, performances and other school activities that involve youth.
- Recruit, train, resource, encourage, and support youth ministry volunteers.
- Provide care, support, encouragement, and counseling to parents/guardians and families.
- Contact visitors on a weekly basis through phone calls, text messages, letters, and/or in-home visits.
- Perform administrative duties that are needed to support youth ministry, such as attendance records, promotion materials, correspondence, scheduling resources, collecting payments and other duties as needed.
- Attend a worship service, staff meetings, youth ministry team meetings and any other meetings required on a weekly basis.
- Foster a cooperative, healthy, and motivating relationship with staff, volunteers, and church families.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Experience and Critical Skills
- Agreement with The Cross Church's faith statement and mission to spread His fame by making disciples of all people."
- Committed to biblical Christian principles and teachings both professionally and personally.
- Established pattern of Bible study and prayer.
- College degree required.
- Called to full-time, vocational ministry with a passion for discipling youth.
- Previous experience in a youth ministry role at a Baptist church or a comparable denomination.
- An understanding that every youth should be known, loved, and cared for like Jesus.
- Ability to understand and relate to youth and families.
- Passionate about seeing families grow together in their faith.
- Experience with recruiting, motivating, equipping, and scheduling volunteers.
- Ability to use appropriate judgment in the areas of discretion, sensitivity, and confidentiality.
- Flexibility to serve where needed.
- Strong written, technical, oratory and creative skills with the ability to speak confidently before large groups.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
- Relational, self-motivated, strong work ethic, organized, dependable, reliable and willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done.
- Competency in computer/web-based technology with the capacity to learn new applications quickly.
- The Cross Church membership is expected.
- Ability to speak, read and write English.
- Sufficient good health to discharge duties properly.
- Passing criminal, financial, and sexual misconduct background checks required.
