Student Ministry Director

Job Overview

This director oversees Student Ministry (grades 6-12) at the Romeo campus under the direction of the Family Ministry Director. This role exists to support the vision and purposes of Woodside Bible Church through the oversight, coordination, and execution of the Student Ministry at the Romeo Campus, in collaboration with all Woodside campuses. Through strategic planning, shepherding, and leadership development, this director works to intentionally engage, disciple, and equip the students of Woodside Romeo to live faithful to Jesus within a biblical community. 

Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

Pastoral:

  • Invests in relationships with staff, students, leaders, parents, the church, and surrounding community 
  • Spiritually builds the Romeo Student Ministry and the families of Woodside through membership, baptism, evangelism, and discipleship 
  • Consistent office hours, as well as intentional time with students, leaders, and families outside of the campus location 
  • Follows Woodside’s Child Protective Program procedures (CPP) and works with CPP Coordinator 
  • Adheres to accountability measures established by the Student Ministry team and approved by Campus/Executive Leadership 
  • Shares in congregational care (hospital visits/funerals/counseling) for students in the ministry and their families 
  • Participates in the teaching team of Woodside Romeo, teaching in various ministry settings 

Ministry Leadership:

  • Develops and executes ministries and experiences that are family-centered and fulfill the vision of Oasis and Wake within the budgeted resources for the ministry  
  • Plans and executes Wednesday night ministry elements and programming 
  • Leads small group leader recruitment, training, development, and appreciation 
  • Leads a small group of either middle school or high school students 
  • Develops local outreach events for students alongside Family Ministry Director and other campus ministries 
  • Plans, structures, and executes ministry events, co-leading service projects, missions experience, summer programming, and other ministerial initiatives 
  • Attends and serves at all multi-site Student events including but not limited to the Oasis Winter Experience, Wake Winter Weekend, and Hope Week  
  • Participates in all collaborative ministry meetings/events including weekly campus staff meeting, monthly All-Staff Meeting, Student Ministry Director meetings, and annual Student Ministry staff retreat  
  • Actively involved in life of the Romeo campus through weekly worship service attendance, Life Group engagement, and collaboration in all Romeo campus events 
  • Does not miss more than 5 Sundays per calendar year/3 Wednesdays per school year 

Administrative:

  • Completes monthly dashboard and annual development plans, overseen by Family Ministry Director 
  • Manages weekly communication to small group leaders and families 
  • Shares in email communication, website updates, and social media 

HUB Leader:

  • Collaboration and leadership: Collaborates with Woodside Student Ministry Hub team by: 
    • Establishing departmental yearly goals 
    • Identifying and participating in collaborative efforts for Student Ministry 
    • Addressing strategic opportunities/challenges within Student Ministry 
    • Reviewing, updating, and guarding Student Ministry DNA 
  • Dotted-line manager: Serves as a dotted-line supervisor to select Woodside Student Ministry Directors, supporting them as they lead Student Ministry on their respective campuses.  
  • Meeting rhythms: Faithfully fulfills all Hub Leader rhythms including: 
    • Monthly check-ins with Student Ministry Directors in Romeo Hub 
    • Monthly meetings with Student Ministry Hub team  
    • Monthly Student Ministry Director Meeting (designs and facilitates this with Student Ministry Hub Team) 

 

Spiritual Responsibilities

  • Ensures that all actions performed within the context of this position accomplishes and furthers the mission, vision, and values of Woodside Bible Church (Belong, Grow, Reach) 
  • Applicant adheres to the Statement of Faith as established and approved by Woodside Bible Church 
  • Applicant is a member in good standing, participates in praying, giving, serving, worshiping and attends special events as an active member of the church
