Student Pastor

The primary ministry that this position will oversee is the Candies Creek Baptist Church student ministry from 7th grade through college which involves adult leaders and parents. As we seek to make disciples and proclaim Christ to all people, this pastoral position requires the individual to serve not only as a student pastor, but also as a shepherd to God's people who serve in this area of ministry, as well as to the entire congregation.

Requirements

  • He shall be a man who is well versed in the work of our denomination and who reveals himself to possess those qualities of leadership that will enable him to serve in the capacity of student pastor.
  • He shall meet the scriptural qualifications set forth in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-8.
  • He shall be a man called of God and dedicated to the ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • He shall be a man who has displayed faithfulness to the Lord Jesus Christ, is fully devoted to Christ, and loves the people of God.
  • He shall be a man of spiritual discernment and insight.
  • He shall be a man who is evangelistic in all of his endeavors.
  • He shall be missionary in spirit, seeking to implement the vision of Christ in Acts 1:8 in the student ministry.

Duties

  • The Student Pastor will serve under the leadership and vision of the Lead Pastor as part of the vision team.
  • He shall give spiritual leadership and guidance to the student ministry, which includes middle school students, high school students, and college students.
  • He shall give spiritual leadership and guidance to the single adult ministry, and to those who serve with him in that ministry.
  • He shall be a source of counsel, advice, prayer, comfort, support, and encouragement to those who work in these ministries as well as to those who seek his ministry in their time of need.
  • He shall be responsible for the enlistment of workers in his ministries in cooperation with the nominating committee.
  • He shall be responsible for the equipping of adults who volunteer to work in the ministries he leads.
  • He shall be responsible to develop strong peer leaders in the student ministry, as well as to equip students to become future spiritual leaders in the church, community, and kingdom of Christ.
  • He will be responsible to seek to develop all the students in his ministry into mature followers of Christ.
  • He shall serve as the primary preacher/teacher for the student ministry at large.
  • He shall preach for the church as called upon to fill the pulpit by the Lead Pastor.
  • He shall be a team player that shares, with his fellow staff members, the general oversight and care for the spiritual and physical needs and concerns of the church family.
  • He shall carry out any additional duties the Lead Pastor might assign that are reasonable and necessary.

Candies Creek Baptist Church of Charleston, Tennessee is located in the rural area of eastern Tennessee off I-75 between Chattanooga and Knoxville. Candies Creek has been an active, mission-minded body of believers for just under 200 years. Averaging a church worship attendance of 365 and a Small Group attendance of approximately 275 on any given Sunday, it continues to make an impact for the Kingdom, the community and region it serves. Candies Creek has been and continues to be a river of hope to a dry and thirsty land.
