STUDENT PASTOR

Supervisor: Discipleship Pastor

Scope: Under the leadership of the Discipleship Pastor, and in collaboration with other staff ministers, the Student Pastor will assist and support the implementation of the overall vision and strategy of FBCP. The Student Pastor will provide leadership to and have the responsibility for the overall Student Ministry of FBCP which includes seventh (7th) grade through college age students.

Specific Areas of Responsibilities:

Teaching and Discipleship: The Student Pastor will serve as the primary preacher/teacher for student events. This will include Sunday morning and Wednesday night activities. Using curriculum approved by the Discipleship Pastor, he will deliver meaningful and doctrinally appropriate education to students. He will design, organize, and lead age-appropriate student worship services, events, and retreats that will increase biblical knowledge; foster spiritual growth; and challenge students to evangelize and serve others on a local, national and global scale.

Student Ministry: The Student Pastor will serve as the primary recruiter, trainer, and equipper of adult volunteers and leaders in the Student Ministry. He will generate and maintain appropriate follow-up with students and families who attend as guests or are otherwise identified as prospects. He will maintain open and easily accessible communication lines with students, parents, and all other interested parties by being readily available for counseling, questions, and comments. He will respond to all requests for interaction in a timely manner. He will emphasize, in an appropriate and intentional manner, the importance of parents and grandparents of students as primary disciple makers. He will routinely visit students in their various school events and extracurricular activities. He will be a presence at the students' schools, aligning himself with the administrative staff and teachers. He will develop good relationships with area schools and develop outreach strategies for students at local schools. He will supervise the work of Student Ministry Associate(s) and Intern(s) when applicable. He will engage in continual personal development through conference attendance, training, and other educational opportunities. He will maintain the doctrinal distinctives of the Baptist Faith and Message, and those of FBCP. He will work with the Discipleship Pastor to create and manage a student ministry budget.

Missions: The Student Pastor will work with the Missions Pastor to create, organize, and lead age-appropriate mission trips locally, nationally, and globally through the Student Missions Pathway. He will model and stress daily gospel-centered conversations by students with their peers.

Discipleship: The Student Pastor will create a Christ-centered, welcoming culture where students are encouraged to grow in their relationship with Jesus through Bible study, prayer, small group study, and individual accountability. He will work with students and leaders to create, organize, and lead age-appropriate discipleship groups through the Discipleship Pathway.
