Job Description:
Hired by the Directors of Lower School, the Teacher's Aide is a full time, non-exempt position that takes direction from the grade-level supervising teacher to whom they are assigned. The aide supports teachers in providing an education to students that orders their loves and renews their minds in preparation for service in the Kingdom of God.
Position Qualifications:
- Essential Duties
Specific Job Responsibilities
- Assist teachers with administrative duties and activity preparation so that they may primarily focus on teaching
- Prepare classroom materials as directed. This includes—
- Completing weekly preparations from teacher planning sessions
- Preparing any additional materials requested by teachers throughout the week
- Preparing teaching materials for long-term unit projects and special holiday activities (e.g., Scrapbook, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Mother's Day)
- Assist in the planning of and prepare materials for field trips and feast days
- Prepare information for and facilitate communication with parents (e.g., Friday folders)
- Assist with classroom set up at the beginning of the year and takedown at the end of the year
- Monitor and order classrooms supplies
- At supervising teacher's discretion, complete non-subjective grading (All subjective grading, such as writing assignments, comprehension questions, spelling sentences, and even certain math tests, should be done by the teacher)
- Monitor the budget for the grade level: complete paper work to order supplies and inventory ordered materials
- Supervise students under the direction of the teacher(s). This may include—
- Monitoring students in the classroom during morning or afternoon carpool
- Monitoring students during recess and lunch
- Escorting students to and from special classes
- Assisting teachers with specific large group activities in the classroom
- Work one-on-one with individual students as directed
- Refer parental questions regarding students to supervising teacher
- Communicate with supervising teacher about student issues
- Take initiative when working by seeking and starting a new task once a previous one has been completed
- Maintain confidentiality about Geneva students and families

- Lift 20 lbs. occasionally and 10 lbs. frequently
- Sit frequently and stand and walk on varied surfaces
- Bend, stoop, crouch, push, pull, climb, balance, kneel, crawl
- Use hands/arms to reach in any direction and seize, grasp, hold, and turn objects using hand(s). Use fingers, versus the whole hand, to pick, pinch, and feel objects.
- See, talk, and hear to communicate with others in person, electronically, by phone, or by radio. Visual functions include the ability to identify and distinguish colors and bring an object into sharp focus.

- Previous work with children is preferred
- Familiarity with office suite software; publishing software experience is preferred
- CPR trained and certified is preferred
