Job Overview

PURPOSE STATEMENT:

To yield our heart, soul, mind, and body to Jesus as we become disciples who help grow disciples in everyday life.

THE TEACHING AND GROUPS PASTOR WILL:

  • Develop and oversee the vision and strategy for JCC's Groups Ministry, ensuring alignment with biblical principles and community needs.
  • Collaborate with the pastoral team and elders to establish a groups plan that fosters spiritual growth and relational connection.
  • Provide clear expectations for group leaders and participants, with accessible on-ramps for new leaders and attendees.
  • Consistently communicate vision and strategy to the congregation and volunteer leaders through meetings, materials, and church communication platforms.
  • Oversee leader training, appreciation events, and equipping leaders with resources to disciple effectively.
  • Manage groups data via Planning Center Online and ensure accurate tracking of participation and interests.
  • Establish and adhere to a yearly budget for Groups and Discipleship ministry.
  • Shepherd individuals in moments of crisis and provide pastoral care.
  • Develop discipleship pathways to draw individuals deeper in their faith and equip them to disciple others.

TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as part of the teaching team, delivering up to 40% of sermons annually.
  • Preach life-shaping messages rooted in biblical fidelity and practical application.

ELDER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain a deep relationship with Jesus Christ to model spiritual growth and leadership.
  • Shepherd the church body through pastoral visits, crisis care, and individual follow-ups.
  • Contribute to church unity and purpose while maintaining personal boundaries for healthy ministry balance.
  • Participate in church financial stewardship and elder governance responsibilities.
