Technical Director
TECHNICAL DIRECTOR
PURPOSE
The Technical Director's primary role is to present the message of the church through audio and video to reach the lost, equip the body, and share the gospel.
PRINCIPLE FUNCTION
Serving as the technical expert for the ministry team, this role will support our mission of spreading the gospel through high-quality live and online experiences, overseeing the technical operations of the church, including video production, live streaming, broadcast, and AV systems for both in-person and digital service.
EXPECTATIONS
o Live an exemplary life modeling the call, character, and competencies of a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
o Be a servant leader to his/her staff and teams of volunteers, families, and the overall church body.
o Grow personally in his/her own leadership and ministerial abilities by researching, reading, attending conferences, and having Godly and professional mentors in his/her life.
o Be involved in the overall life of the church body by being a member, actively participating in ministry, church-wide events, and functions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Video Production & Broadcast:
o Lead the production and broadcasting of live services, events, and special programs.
o Oversee video capture, editing, and post-production to ensure high-quality content for in-person, online, and broadcast platforms.
o Ensure the seamless operation of video, lighting, and audio systems during services.
o Manage and operate live streaming software, ensuring a smooth and consistent broadcast experience across multiple platforms (YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, website, etc.).
o Cooperate with the Senior Pastor, and church leadership in promoting the entire ministry plan
Technical Leadership:
o Lead and develop a volunteer production team, providing training and support in video, audio, lighting, and streaming equipment.
o Collaborate with the Worship Pastor, creative team, and other ministry leaders to plan and execute the technical aspects of services and events.
o Troubleshoot technical issues that arise during live services, ensuring minimal disruptions.
o Collaborate with our Christian academy (Mount Juliet Christian Academy) on A/V needs and support weekly chapels on an as-needed basis
Equipment & Systems Management:
o Oversee the maintenance, repair, and upgrades of all technical equipment (cameras, switchers, lighting consoles, audio systems, TVs, etc.).
o Stay updated on the latest video production and broadcast technologies, recommending improvements where necessary.
o Ensure backups, redundancies, and fail-safes are in place for all critical equipment and systems.
Content Management:
o Ensure all video and broadcast content is archived and accessible for future use.
o Deliver recorded content for social media, church websites, and other outreach efforts.
o Work directly with our Communications department to produce and deliver content to the overall church body and community
Team Development
o Enlist, equip, and encourage qualified volunteer teams and interns to accomplish communication goals.
o Educate staff and ministry leaders about procedures and processes for communicating church messages. Meet them where they are in their level of understanding and help them know what we do, why we do it, and how they can contribute to the overall effectiveness of church communications.
QUALIFICATIONS o Have a heart for the local church, a growing relationship with Jesus Christ, and a passion for using communications for the glory of God.
o Have a teachable spirit and desire to learn and grow in their area of operations.
o Have proven experience in video production, live broadcasting, and/or media-related technical roles.
o Be proficient in live streaming platforms, video switchers, camera operation, lighting, and sound systems.
o Be familiar with ProPresenter, OBS, Blackmagic, and/or other video and broadcast tools.
o Having experience with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve).
o Have strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues under pressure, while maintaining a calm attitude.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
o Degree in Broadcast Technology, Media Production, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
o Previous experience in a church or ministry setting.
o Knowledge of multi-camera video production and experience with larger-scale AV systems.
REQUIREMENTS
o Be a participating member at First Baptist Church Mt. Juliet by attending, serving, and giving faithfully.
o Be able to manage multiple tasks while maintaining a pleasant attitude and positive ministry outlook.
o Perform all duties as assigned by supervisor and/or Senior Pastor
