Worship and Fine Arts Pastor

The candidate must have a passionate relationship with Jesus Christ and be able to appropriately lead others to express their personal relationship with Jesus in worship. The means by which this will be done will be through Christian music at both Sunday morning services and other services/events where appropriate or as directed by the Senior Pastor. A minimum of five (5) years of experience is required in church settings with more than five hundred (500) in attendance.

  • Primary Duties and Responsibilities:Act as primary worship leader providing a consistent pastoral presence to both contemporary and traditional Sunday services while providing rehearsals for choir and worship teams during the week.
  • Oversight of all contemporary and traditional worship leadership.
  • Plan and coordinate contemporary and traditional services consistent with the Senior Pastor's direction.
  • Vision casting for all future worship services.
  • Recruiting and developing worship team musicians and choir members.
  • Direct the planning, coordination, operation, and evaluation of a comprehensive church music program to include:
    • Choirs
    • Orchestra
    • Vocal/instrumental ensembles
  • Coordinate the work of paid music support staff and Conduct necessary meetings for the purpose of evaluation and planning.
  • Keep the Senior Pastor and other staff members informed concerning the worship ministry and the worship ministry's impact on the total church program.
  • Keep informed on current music methods, materials, and administrative techniques.
  • Work with the worship ministry team in determining worship ministry goals, organization, leadership, facilities, finances and administrative process.
  • Supervise maintenance of and additions to the music library and equipment; provide music materials
  • Oversee the coordination of student ministry worship.
  • Be a resource for other ministries in their worship needs.
  • Work under the Senior Pastor and at his direction.

Qualifications:

  • Musical training and ability which include skill in singing/playing of an instrument, preferably guitar.
  • Authentic love for Christ and commitment to follow Him as a Southern Baptist minister.
  • Education and degree from a school of music and/or seminary is preferred.
  • An understanding and full support of the mission and ministry of SBC.
  • Ability to plan and manage multiple projects.
  • Essential are interpersonal skills and organizational abilities.
  • Responsible and able to work independently on assigned tasks as well as with other church staff members and volunteers.An understanding that team work is a vital component of a vibrant ministry.

  • To raise the SBC worship experience to even more compelling levels, whereby worshippers continually enter a more meaningful encounter with Christ.
  • To expand the number of lay worship leaders/musicians in our congregation consistent with the goals established by the Senior Pastor.
  • To explore and create new ways by which God can be worshiped, especially to those still seeking a relationship with Christ.
  • To be as strong off stage at realizing that of greatest importance is who we are rather than what we do.
  • To be a vital member of the SBC staff, participating in non-musical activities, as directed by the Senior Pastor.
