Job Summary:
The Worship Pastor will serve as a ministry staff member, focused on leading and overseeing the music and worship ministries of Crossroads Church. This includes developing and directing building instrumentalist teams, praise singer teams, choirs of all ages, and leading teams on and off-campus in ministry and on mission.
This leader must exhibit conviction for his calling to gospel ministry, a pastoral heart of love for his Crossroads Church family, and together with his wife and children lead a life above reproach with care for personal holiness.
As a pastor, he must exemplify church values and vision. He will lead people by recruiting and discipling church members to use their gifts to glorify God and develop their craft. This leader will receive direction and redirection from senior staff (pastor and associate pastor). Crossroads Church is driven by a commitment to grow disciples of Christ fully engaged in Worship, LifeGroups, Ministry, and Missions with a strong family ministry focus; all staff must actively participate in and promote such engagement.
Essential Job Functions:
- Plan and maintain an annual calendar and the budget of the ministry of worship and music.
- Engage church family in worship; bless the Church abroad through music, and shine Christ's light to the lost through music on mission.
- Exhibit above-average skill with a variety of instruments including piano, keyboard, and guitar
- Build and coordinate teams of volunteer musicians and media/tech people to meet church needs in music and worship leadership.
- Communicate consistently to all volunteers- modeling and encouraging the church's core values, operating agreements, and ministry philosophies.
- Lead and administrate all worship times in ways that direct praise toward God, encourage the saints (Ephesians 5:19), and are age-appropriate, fun, and engaging.
- Coordinate programming between the Worship Ministry and all other Crossroads Ministries.
- Recruit, manage, train, and retain leaders and volunteer staff in the ministry.
- Maintain, upgrade, and manage audio/visual systems and needs. Staying up with current technology is very important to Crossroads.
- Lead, recruit for, equip, and help contract (when requested) worship teams for other ministries' events as requested. This includes recruiting and equipping youth for youth worship, men for men's ministry, women for women's ministry, and Spanish speakers for the Iglesia Ministry.
- Uphold all policies and procedures of Crossroads Church, especially regarding Worship and Music.
- Lead interns involved with the Worship and Music in discipleship, training, and ministry leadership.
Job Requirements and Personal Qualifications:
Education: Must have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree with graduate-level seminary training, preferably from an accredited and approved Baptist institution. Must be open to continued education. Preference given to those with 10+ years of relevant church worship leading experience.
Job Skills and Experience:
Must be proven through years of ministry and in leading worship with songs both new and old and in varied common styles.
Knowledge, skills, and gifts: Must exhibit a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Workplace applications and be adept with services like ProPresenter, MultiTrax, Chart Builder, Planning Center, etc.
Other: Must have skills in organization and administration, creative event planning, and use of technical/AV Media; Must exhibit interpersonal/relational skills with a personable attitude and demeanor; must continually cultivate and maintain positive relationships with staff, volunteers, and church family; must possess communication and vision casting skills; must have a team-player attitude. Must quell drama and avoid creating it like the plague (artistic ministries can draw some with a flair for the dramatic, and shepherding these brothers and sisters well is key).
Personal Qualifications: Staff Member and Spouse must:
Have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ with consistent evidence of fruit in personal life; must support The Baptist Faith and Message, 2000 (https://bfm.sbc.net/bfm2000/); have the ability to consistently use good judgment and wisdom in life, especially in communication (with no use or approval of profanity or obscenity) including in text-based communication and social media (with special care to avoid approval of and public consumption of alcohol). Must be regularly involved in the life of Crossroads Church in worship, a Bible class or LifeGroup, in its ministries, and in missions.
Other Information:
Pastoral staff may be required to supervise other leaders related to their ministries.

- Interact in a consistently positive manner with people inside and outside the church family using a high degree of tact, diplomacy, discretion, flexibility, respect and courtesy in gesture and speech.
- Demonstrate ability to make decisions based on the vision and values of Crossroads Church.
- Select songs with care to how lyrics glorify God over a song's associations with specific artists.
- Resolve interpersonal conflicts based on biblical principles.
- Deal well with frequent change, delays, and surprises with patience, poise, and professionalism.
- Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; quickly respond to requests for service and work well in group problem-solving situations; must be a strong team player who meets commitments.
- Ability to work in a high-volume environment while maintaining productivity and work quality.
- Self-motivated and flexible with strong organizational skills and the ability to work well with timelines and short deadlines.
- Reside near 10 miles of Crossroads Church in Canton, Texas.
