We are looking for a proven leader who has the heart and experience to equip and develop people, teams, our talented worship/production staff, and ultimately celebrates the success of others. We are a church who wants to become a movement of people who live and love like Jesus, and our Worship Director must help us cultivate a culture of worship that glorifies God and points us toward reflecting God’s story to a hurting world. We have no aspirations of being a trendy destination church, rather we want to be humble and authentic people who worship 7-days a week in the ways we love our neighbors, the hurting, and the people in our spheres of influence for the sake of discipleship. Greenville is growing city located in the coastal plains of eastern North Carolina. It lives along the Tar River and has numerous parks, trails, and is the gateway to many of North Carolina’s amazing beaches along the Crystal Coast and Outer Banks. Job Description

WORSHIP DIRECTOR

Our pursuit at Covenant Church is to become a movement of people who live and love like Jesus.  This is primarily expressed though 3 values: Worshipful living for Jesus – Inviting the presence of Jesus into every aspect of our lives. Those who hold positions of leadership at Covenant must commit themselves to personally living out these values, and to make those values central to their ministry leadership. We value honesty, unity, initiative, and intentionality as we humbly serve those God has placed in our care. With this in mind, we ask our Worship Director to help shape a healthy culture within the team that helps accomplish the following responsibilities in ways aligned with Covenant’s vision and philosophy.

Recruiting, empowering, and caring.

In each area of influence, the Worship Director actively engages and recruits people from our church family to use their gifting and talents for the good of our church, for the advancement of the mission of our church, and ultimately for God’s glory. Ongoing and frequent equipping, feedback, coaching, and encouragement are important to the worship teams as they are empowered to serve in significant ways. Finally, because people matter more than what they do, spiritual care and discipleship in the lives of the team members are central to the role of Worship Director.

Initiate, improve, invest, and inspire.

The Worship Director demonstrates initiative in all aspects of the role; looking for opportunity to try new things, improve existing efforts, identify more effective ways to invest in the team, be quick to address challenges, build a healthy team culture, and celebrate the growth and success of others in ways that inspire the team.

Instrumentalists, vocalists, service planning, environment, and technical.

Listed below are primary areas that fall under the care and leadership of the Worship Director. Preparing well equipped teams, thoughtful attention to service planning, and clear communication and expectation are all central to the role of Worship Director. Responsibilities include:

• Weekend services are NOT the finish line, they are the starting line. Mobilizing a church is our main goal.
• Execute high standards without falling into the trap of ‘excellence’ at the expense of vision and mission.
• The leadership, development, and encouragement of the ProductionWorship Teams for their flourishing.
• Cultivate a collaborative team culture to maximize the gifting, talents, & contributions of team members.
• Lead team meetings ensuring clear expectations, communication, and ministry vision/mission alignment.
• Timely scheduling of volunteers and rehearsals across the worship ministry and the coaching of teams.
• Planning of services (music, elements, creativity, flow, etc), special events, & services under Lead Pastor.
• Initiate and facilitate necessary service meetings to plan, evaluate, create, and execute services well.
• Being conscious to avoid ruts, some routines, and general predictability in order to keep things vibrant.
• Help teach, minister, and grow our church family in their understanding and expression of worship.
• Plan ahead, be organized (or empower an organizer), lead well and humbly, and work with excellence.
• Must be supportive of the goals, visions, and leadership set forth by the church council.
• Help support Student Ministry by helping lead (or facilitate leaders) and equipping students as available.
• Ultimate success is empowering and celebrating the success of others under your leadership and care.
• Of course, other duties may be assigned from time to time (e.g., weddings, funerals, seasonal events, etc).
