Job Overview

The Worship Director leads a worship team and is responsible for planning and leading worship services, overseeing Sunday worship music and ministry, and developing an overall vision for worship at Journey Evangelical Church. Will work closely with the Senior Pastor and Worship Committee to create worship experiences that are engaging, inspiring, and spiritually meaningful for the congregation.

Job Description

Worship Director Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead a Worship Team
• Develop and implement a vision for worship services, including song selection, order of service elements, and overall atmosphere.
• Collaborate with the Senior Pastor for music to fit sermon subject, special events, and other activities that will be part of the worship service.
• Oversee the volunteer musicians and vocalists. Schedule and rotate like instrumentalists and vocalists.
• Lead worship services on a regular basis, to include both traditional and contemporary music.
• Direct, train and develop the musicians, vocalists and other volunteers. Develop new worship leaders(lead vocals)
• Work closely with the Worship Committee to manage the budget for the worship ministry department, including ordering supplies and equipment.
• Stay up-to-date on the latest trends in worship music and technology. Work closely with sound-technicians to assure quality of sound/balance for live in person and streaming.
• Work with the Senior Pastor and other church leaders to ensure that the worship ministry is aligned with the overall mission and vision of the church.

Qualifications:

• A strong relationship with Jesus Christ.
• A passion for worship and a desire to lead others in worship.
• Experience in directing and leading worship services and working with a worship team.
• Strong musical and vocal skills.
• Ability to direct, plan and organize worship services effectively.
• Ability to work well with others and build relationships.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Compensation:

Part-time hourly 8-10 hrs. per week (flexible week to week), can be increased.
