On the edge of the "Research Triangle" in North Carolina, Hillsborough is a unique small town in the state. We have professors, doctors, and PhD's connected to nearby universities; and a thriving community of writers, poets, and other artists. Hillsborough also has rural properties and farms surrounding the downtown core. Those groups don't necessarily form a melting pot. Instead, there are a wide range of beliefs philosophically, politically, and even theologically which co-exist around each other. The result is that many people here don't even know how badly they're in need. Many are happy pursuing relatively successful careers living comfortably in a beautiful small town. What people in Hillsborough desperately need is a vision for life which gives them more than the "American Dream." We exist to give them the vision of the gospel: that each of them were created to belong to God's family, worshiping Him with their entire heart, mind, and strength. We want to be a light in our community so that the people and culture around us are transformed in the name of Jesus. The main way we aim to do that is as a church which is cultivating gospel-centered and vital community in and for Hillsborough.

A primary role for the Worship Minister will be to facilitate all aspects of worship services, creating an environment that encourages congregational engagement and spiritual growth. In addition to leading worship, the Worship Minister will take on other responsibilities based on the needs of the congregation and their own unique gifts and skills. Those responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, areas such as discipleship, congregational care, community outreach, or leadership development.

Job Description

Key responsibilities include:

• Worship Leadership: Plan, prepare, and lead weekly worship services, including music selection, rehearsals, and performance. Collaborate with pastoral staff to ensure cohesive worship experiences.
• Team Development: Recruit, train, and mentor worship team members, including musicians and vocalists. Foster a spirit of teamwork and creativity within the worship ministry.
• Ministry Support and Oversight: Participate in and help to lead various regular ministries within the church (discipleship, small groups, community outreach, etc.). Provide care and support to congregants as needed.
• Event Coordination: Plan and execute special worship events, such as holiday services, retreats, and concerts. Work with church leadership to organize community engagement initiatives.
• Spiritual Growth: Encourage spiritual growth and discipleship among the congregation through worship and ministry involvement. Lead workshops and training sessions to enhance worship skills and spiritual formation.

Applicants should have a strong personal faith and commitment to the mission of the church, experience in worship leadership and music ministry, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. Relevant theological education or equivalent experience is preferred.
