Youth / Assistant Pastor

Job Overview

Role The Youth / Assistant Pastor directly reports to and assists the Senior Pastor in carrying out the mission of the church to make and become fully devoted followers of Christ through the renewing and transforming power of the gospel for the glory of God. The Youth / Assistant Pastor will be responsible for leading the youth ministry as well as other responsibilities in the broader ministry of the church.

  • is excited to work with the Senior Pastor, under his leadership, to enhance each other's ministry, to encourage one another, to shepherd the people of the church, and to reach the community with the gospel of Jesus Christ
  • has a passion for teaching Scripture in a way that maintains the authority of the text and is relevant and applicable to the life of the learner
  • has a love for youth and a passion for youth to come to know Christ and grow in their relationship with Christ
  • values integrating the youth ministry with the overall ministry of the local church
  • is committed to developing and working with and through volunteer leaders
  • is humble, teachable, and always seeking to learn to serve Christ better
  • has a bachelor's or master's degree in bible, theology, or ministry (or equivalent experience)
  • understands that church ministry is always flexible and does not necessarily fit neatly into a job description

Responsibilities

  • 50% of time specifically dedicated to youth ministry
    • teaching – study, lesson prep, and weekly teaching in youth group and/or Sunday School
    • discipling / counseling – meeting with students and parents individually or in small groups
    • volunteer development and coordination
    • administration – planning, scheduling, and communication
  • 50% of time available for other areas of ministry
    • working with the Senior Pastor in planning and implementing the overall discipleship and ministry strategy of the church
    • assisting the Senior Pastor with specific needs in the church including administration, counseling, visitation, special events, etc.
    • possibly other specific areas of ministry if identified as an interest and ability of the candidate and a need of the church.
