Job Description

Youth Director – Abiding Savior Free Lutheran Church  

POSITION SUMMARY: This position will focus on the catechetical, sustainable ministry of youth (grades 6-12) and families through our Rooted Youth Ministry.   This individual will seek to build young disciples for Christ through developing and implementing opportunities of worship, discipleship, missions, and outreach, while serving as a spiritual leader and role model.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Experience in Youth Ministry development and leadership.
2. Acceptance and adherence to AFLC doctrine and practices.
3. Passion for relationship building, gifted in evangelism and outreach.
4. Teaching and mentoring experience, with a strong biblical and theological background.
5. Flexibility and responsiveness to the changing needs of a dynamic church ministry.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS: Nothing extraordinary, flexible hours.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

1. Report directly to and be under the supervision of the Associate Pastor.
   1. Facilitate partnerships with other peer ministry leadership groups
   2. Participation in Christian Education Board
   3. Youth Advisory Board Member and partnership
   4. Spiritual oversight for all youth activities grades 6-12.
   5. Includes SS, Youth Group, Small Groups, Retreats, Service Projects and Mission trips.
   6. Identify, equip, support and encourage lay leaders serving as teachers and youth leaders.
   7. Maintain a progressive understanding of youth culture and challenges.
   8. Win, teach, counsel, disciple, mentor and encourage our youth.
