YOUTH DIRECTOR

Reports to: Lead Pastor Job Status: Non-exempt hourly, half-time, monthly total not to exceed 20 hours per week. Position Description: The Youth Director plans, organizes, develops, supervises and leads the youth group with a Gospel centered holistic family approach.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • A passionate faith in Jesus Christ.
  • Committed mature believer and growing follower of Jesus Christ.
  • Seminary and professional experience preferred.
  • Ability to work as a team with staff and committee members.
  • Motivated and self-disciplined, with strong program and time management skills or having a desire to grow in this area.
  • Positive record of recruiting and training volunteers.
  • Effective personal and public communicator.
  • Strong administrative, leadership and relational skills.
  • Aligns with EPC doctrine in the Reformed Tradition.
  • Must pass standard background check.

Relationships

  • Reports to the Lead Pastor weekly.
  • Mentored and discipled by the Lead Pastor.
  • Lives as a member of the body of Grace Ministry.

Job Description

Primary Responsibilities

  • Build a healthy Gospel centered student community with an outward, inward, and upward facing vision, including outreach practices to engage unchurched youth.
  • Build relationships with the youth, inside and outside the congregation with the purpose of sharing God's love for them.
  • Maintain regular communication and build strong relationships with parents, equipping them to be the primary disciplers of their children.
  • Lead Friday Night Fellowship for youth group.
  • Coordinate with the Lead Pastor and Session regarding separate Sunday services for the youth group.
  • Prepare and lead youth programs and events.
  • Initiate and maintain regular 1:1 contact work with student and student leadership.
  • Recruit, equip, and develop volunteer leadership.
  • Oversee and manage the annual budget for the youth group to support impactful programming
  • Collaborate and partner with the Lead Pastor and other staff for family ministry events.
  • Build and grow an engaging social media presence.
  • Communicate with families, volunteers and staff regarding student ministry programing and events.
  • Build ecumenical relationships with churches in South Jersey.

Related Responsibilities

  • Attend and contribute to monthly staff bible study and staff meetings.
  • Submit a monthly written report to Session on ministry goals and activities and attend monthly Session meetings.
  • Working closely with the Lead Pastor on other administrative responsibilities (e.g., youth budget, church wide communication, maintaining youth database, Sunday Worship, the Loop).
  • Consistent and strong communication with youth, staff and leaders of the church.
