Youth Director
Job Overview
Joy Christian Fellowship (JCF) is a predominantly Korean/Asian-American, nondenominational,
multisite church with campuses in northern New Jersey and New York City. Joy Englewood has
about 250 adults and 200 children, including approximately 100 youth students.
The Youth Director will work alongside the current Youth Pastor, other staff, and youth
volunteers to run key aspects of Chosen Generation (CG), Joy Christian Fellowship's youth
ministry for grades 6-12. This includes our Sunday worship service, Friday night program (3x a
month), youth staff meetings (1x a month), and special events.
The Youth Director would be joining a team ministry of staff, elders, and volunteers that works
collaboratively to raise disciples. He/she will report to the senior pastor, and will have an
opportunity to receive his mentorship.
Job Description
Sundays
● Preach sermons on a rotating schedule
● Assist with the setup, clean up, and closing of our youth worship and small group spaces
Friday Night Youth Meetings
● Prepare and lead Friday night meetings on a rotating schedule for now. We are
eventually planning on splitting our Friday night meetings between high school and
middle school.
● Manage volunteers for small groups and snacks for our Friday meetings
● Assist with the setup and breakdown of Friday night meetings and events
Other Events
● Assist in planning and organizing two annual youth retreats, one mission trip, and other
special events throughout the year
● Train, equip, and meet with youth volunteers and student leaders
● Communicate weekly with youth parents
General Office Administration and Ministry Support
● Assist in planning and organizing youth events
● Steward and keep records of our youth budget
● Coordinate administrative tasks to support the ministry
● Oversee sign up, collection, and management of forms, required documents, and
payments for all events through the church management software
Character Qualifications:
● Gospel-oriented heart to serve God, the church, and the people at Joy
● Commitment to the theology and traditions of the Reformed faith
● Align with the qualifications in 1 Timothy 3:1-7; being above reproach, sober-minded,
self-controlled, hospitable, able to teach, gentle.
● Act as a positive Christian role model who loves God and His people
● Available to work a nontraditional schedule which includes evenings and weekends
● Ability to work with confidential information and maintain high standards of honesty and
integrity
● Passion for youth ministry and to raise life long disciples
Skills/Experience:
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills
● Minimum three year experience (volunteer or paid) participating in youth, college, or
other pastoral ministries
● Completed seminary education (m.Div preferred)
