Job Overview

In alignment with scripture and our Philosophy of Ministry, the Youth Ministry Director/Pastor is responsible for modeling and cultivating Christ-centered discipleship, fostering deep relationships, and creating an environment where every young person is encouraged to discover, develop, and live out their God-given purpose. This leadership role reinforces Wildwood Church's mission of connecting people to God, other believers, the church body, and life-changing purpose (#connect4QC).

Job Description

Key Responsibilities 1. Ministry Leadership & Programming

  • Gospel-Centered Teaching: Deliver Bible studies that are biblically grounded and guide youth to applying the Gospel message to their daily lives.
  • Program Development & Oversight: Design, implement, and regularly evaluate age- appropriate programs for Middle School and High School ministries. These include Wednesday evening gatherings, small group discussions, retreats, summer camp, mission trips, concerts, and specialized events
  • Authentic Discipleship: Promote Wildwood initiatives that build disciples who are equipped to disciple others. This includes facilitating intergenerational opportunities and partnering with both adult ministry teams and local missions.

2. Relationship Building & Community Engagement

  • Fostering Connections: Develop genuine, caring relationships with students, actively mentoring them while also partnering with parents to support discipleship at home.
  • Developing a Welcoming Environment: Implement strategies to attract students through engaging activities, such as gym time or fellowship events, so that every youth feels welcomed and valued.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Serve as a bridge of communication between youth, church staff and leaders, and family.

3. Pastoral Care & Administrative Duties

  • Shepherding: Provide pastoral care & biblical counsel tailored to the unique challenges of youth ministry, and the church body when needed.
  • Efficient Administration: Collaborate with church leadership to manage scheduling, budgeting, and overall coordination with other church ministries. Ensure that ministry operations align with the broader vision and strategic goals of Wildwood Church.

Qualifications & Desired Attributes

  • Biblical & Doctrinal Foundation: A demonstrable preference towards expository and interactive teaching of the Gospel, with a personal walk deeply rooted in the Word of God.
  • Proven Leadership in Youth Ministry: Experience in youth discipleship, managing varying program elements, and addressing challenges with creativity and grace.
  • Relational & Communication Excellence: Outstanding interpersonal skills to build trust with staff, parents, volunteers, and students —fostering an environment that thrives on genuine, caring relationships.
  • Integrated Vision: Embrace Wildwood's Ministry Philosophy by partnering with families, encouraging intergenerational discipleship, and motivating students to live for the glory of Christ.
  • Character & Integrity: Demonstrate humility, patience, servant leadership, and an ability to balance ministry demands with personal well-being and family life. Exemplify the qualifications for an elder as outlined in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.
  • Strategic & Adaptive Planning: Skilled in evaluating ministry needs, designing creative outreach strategies, and managing ministry within a growing church environment.
  • Ongoing Learning: Stay engaged with contemporary youth culture, ministry best practices, and professional development to continually enrich the ministry experience.
  • Focus on Prayer: Model a vibrant personal devotional life and prioritize prayer—personally, as a team, and with the students.
  • Faithful Relationship with Christ: Demonstrates sincerity, maturity in faith, and willingness to become a member of Wildwood Church.
  • Teachable Spirit: Aligned with the Wildwood culture in temperament and ministry philosophy.
