Youth Director
JOB DESCRIPTION: YOUTH DIRECTOR
Overview:
The Church at Wills Creek Youth Director will be primarily responsible for developing resilient Jesus followers by helping students develop a Biblical worldview and strong personal faith. Through thoughtful planning and preparation, the Youth Director will provide leadership for regular middle school and high school student Bible study, discipleship, praise/worship, evangelism, missions education, missions involvement and fellowship events in a safe (physically and emotionally) and engaging environment. This position requires a Wednesday evening and Sunday morning teaching for students and office hours in The Church at Wills Creek office.
Qualifications:
1. The Youth Director will be a Christian and have a love for Jesus that is contagious.
2. The Youth Director shall be an approachable and outgoing Christian, a member in good standing of an evangelical church, in agreement with the Church Covenant and Statement of Faith and become a member of The Church at Wills Creek.
3. The Youth Director shall have a genuine commitment to the gospel ministry and a sense of divine call to the youth ministry.
4. The Youth Director must have the ability to plan, organize, direct and lead the Youth Ministry of a dynamic and growing church while staying current in best practices for working with youth.
5. The Youth Director shall have sufficient skills and experience to relate Bible teachings and applications to real life questions and situations that apply to youth and their families in an increasingly challenging culture.
6. The Youth Director shall demonstrate the ability to meaningfully interact and communicate with youth and their families to build lasting redemptive relationships.
7. The Youth Director shall demonstrate the ability to recruit, train, empower and lead a team of ministry volunteers.
8. Bachelors in related field and/or seminary degree preferred.
Responsibilities:
1. Serve and support the vision, mission and strategic plan of The Church of Wills Creek church
2. Leadership – Inspire students and their families to know and follow Jesus while developing a Biblical worldview that promotes cultural discernment.
3. Create a dynamic, meaningful and safe (physically and emotionally) atmosphere for spiritual growth among youth.
4. Strategize, create and implement an action plan to develop a growing and vibrant ministry to youth including Bible study, discipleship, praise/worship, evangelism, missions education, missions involvement, outreach, service, intergenerational involvement and fellowship in collaboration with the Pastor, Elders, Administration, ministry staff, ministry volunteers, and church ministry (including but not limited too) Coosa Christian and Celebrate Recovery.
5. Coordinate and lead Sunday morning and Wednesday night youth programming and/or other youth activities in collaboration with Pastor/Elders, Administration, ministry staff, ministry volunteers, and church ministry (including but not limited too) Coosa Christian and Celebrate Recovery.
6. Plan, implement and attend youth summer camps, retreats, mission activities, outreach events, fundraisers and/or other church sanctioned youth events.
7. Recruit, inspire, train, empower and equip ministry volunteers to support the vision of the youth ministry, as well as coordinate ministry volunteer scheduling.
8. Develop and guide a Youth Ministry team for planning, collaboration, calendaring and accountability
9. Be under the direct supervision of and report directly to the Pastor/Elders, and Administration.
10. Assist ministry team with ministry care.
11. Work in close cooperation with leadership teams and other members of the church staff.
12. Collaborate with the Pastor/Elders, Administration, ministry staff, ministry volunteers, and church ministry (including but not limited too) Coosa Christian and Celebrate Recovery. To make The Church at Wills Creek a friendly and welcoming place for youth and their families
Communication:
1. Create an effective informational network to communicate schedules and responsibilities to ministry volunteers.
2. Prepare written communications/updates regarding Youth Ministry for parents and church family.
3. Use the communication software and people management software for excellence in communication to volunteers
Finance:
1. Prepare and administer budget within the established guidelines and in compliance with TCAWC policies and procedures.
2. Purchase supplies needed to equip the ministry
Safety:
1. Oversee the safety and cleanliness of youth ministry space.
2. Assist church office with maintaining necessary student health records.
3. Create/maintain Family Ministry Safety oversight (including waivers for travel).
4. Ensure proper completion of background checks for all youth ministry volunteers prior to their participation.
Compensation and Benefits:
1. Compensation shall be set by the church upon recommendation of the Pastor/Elders.
2. Compensation will be a salary position, Youth Director is ask to work 40 hours per week and may adjust with ministry events and outreach (Church worship services are hours of service and worship for all staff).
3. Additional Duties as Assigned by the Pastor/Elders, Administration, ministry staff, ministry volunteers, and church ministry (including but not limited too) Coosa Christian and Celebrate Recovery.
