Youth Minister
Qualities and skills required:
· A born-again, baptized believer
· A heart for the gospel and Jesus
· A passion to work with the youth of the church
· Effective Biblical leadership skills

· A heart of humility and joy
· A desire to lead and build up the youth of the church
· An organized, self-motivated individual with good character and work ethic
· A member of a Southern Baptist Convention church in good standing
· Adheres to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000
· 1+ years of vocational ministry experience preferred
· Married
Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Develop and direct a comprehensive Youth Ministry for grades 7-12. This includes but is not limited to:
· Meet weekly with the Pastor in planning, organizing, and implementing activities and Bible studies for youth.
· Plan and lead weekly youth Sunday School, Sunday evening Bible study, and Wednesday evening Bible study.
· Plan and conduct appropriate times of fellowship and fundraisers for all youth in this community (examples: church camp, VBS, mission trips, community outreach projects, youth-led services, auctions, bake sales, etc.).
· Plan and implement appropriate curriculum for youth Bible study,
· Be available for personal counseling with youth.
· Attend one conference per year related to Youth Ministry and make a report to the Pastor upon return.
· Schedule appropriate conferences, camps and other events for the youth that stimulate Christian growth. These activities will require prior approval by the church at the monthly business meetings (including dates and cost for events and activities).
· Obtain sponsors and volunteers as needed.
· Support and participate in Vacation Bible School and Operation Christmas Child.
2) Develop and direct an active community youth outreach program. This includes but is not limited to:
· Plan and lead outreach events for youth and their parents.
· Establish and maintain an up-to-date youth prospect file.
· Train youth how to share their faith.
· Be involved in youth related activities in our community and the local schools of our youth, as feasible.
· Establish regular contact with the youth of our community through personal visitation or contact.
3) General Expectations – including but not limited to:
· Seek to win others to Christ.
· Maintain a Christian example in your speech, dress, appearance, music, and conduct.
· Attend monthly staff and business meetings and report on youth attendance, future activities (calendar), and use of youth funds.
· Make hospital visits to youth or parents of youth.
· Be willing to perform whatever duties may be assigned by the Pastor to benefit the church.
4) Drive the church van as needed. This may include, but is not limited to Sunday mornings, Sunday evenings, Wednesday nights, Youth functions, camp and VBS.
Sick Leave:
The Youth Minister shall secure a substitute in the event of an absence and contact the pastor in advance. If excessive absenteeism occurs, the Personnel Committee will be notified for possible re-evaluation.
Vacation:
Vacation time is based on the calendar year:
· Less than six months = none
· Six months to one year = one week
· One year and over = two weeks
Vacation time can not accumulate above two weeks per year.
Salary: $36,000 – $46,000 per year, based on experience and education.
