YOUTH MINISTER JOB DESCRIPTION:First Newark Baptist ChurchThomasville, GA 31792POSITION DESCRIPTION:Youth Minister

General Purpose of Position:To lead youth to become fully devoted followers of Christ.

Organizational Relationship and Supervision:The Youth Minister will be under the Youth Council/Personal Committee/Pastor forsupervision, as well as for needed ministry and spiritual guidance.The Primary Task:There shall be a comprehensive approach to the development and implementation of theyouth ministry at all levels.This comprehensive approach is based on the understanding of the primary task of youthministry to:-to lead youth to understand the true gospel as presented in Scripture-encourage youth in growing in their relationship to God– desire to build relationships with youth-provide them with opportunities for nurture and growth-challenge them to respond to God's call to serve in their communities and world.Responsibilities:1. Be an advocate for youth and educate the congregation about the hopes,concerns, and needs of youth in the local church and community.2. Help plan, develop, and implement all aspects of a balanced youth ministry inthe areas of, worship, discipleship, mission, and outreach.3. Recruit and train volunteers who work with youth in all aspects of youthministry and ensure adequate volunteer support and adult to youth ratios.4. Communicate in a timely manner and as effectively as possible using allavailable resources (email, website, bulletin, newsletter, bulletin board, etc.).Ensure communication with church staff and leadership, parents, and thecongregation as a whole.

5. Make yourself available to youth in a variety of ways (i.e. lunch at school,attendance at extracurricular activities, visitation, times of crisis, etc.)6. Preferred to have a CDL Class B license.7. Do hospital visitation at times.8. Carry out responsibilities without having direct supervision at all times.

Qualifications and Aptitudes:1. A personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord as well as a strong desireto serve within the church2. A sense of calling to youth ministry3. Ability to work with youth and young adults4. Completion of college-level or higher course work in Christian Education and/orYouth Ministry, and/or comparable experience is desired.5. Must have vision and a demonstrated ability to plan, develop, coordinate,manage and implement a youth ministry.6. Needs a working knowledge of computer and other pertinent technology.7. Must posses a proven ability to work effectively with youth, diverseindividuals, and teams of volunteers.8. Satisfactory Security Check
