YOUTH MINISTER

Trinity Community Church in Libertyville, Illinois is looking for a youth minister to oversee our student ministry.  Trinity is a church of about 100 strong in weekly attendance.  We build our lives on the centrality of Christ and his work through the Cross and Resurrection.  We value making worship, community, and mission the guiding principles of our lives, as explained by our Lord and his apostles.  We gather weekly for song, the reading of Scripture, preaching, and the Lord’s Table.  A multi-generational church, we have many young families and our youth group averages about 20-25 students a week, reaching students from grades 6-12.

Job Description

ROLE DESCRIPTION

• Maintain personal devotion to the Lord and loving responsibility over your family.
• Participate in the life of Trinity Community Church (make TCC your church home)
• Lead our weekly gathering of students on Wednesday nights, which includes worship through song, readings, teaching, and small group discussion.
• Recruit and develop volunteers to lead Wednesday night small groups and grow as ministers to the youth of the church.
• Develop a series agenda and deliver weekly teachings, both expositing books of the Bible and delivering topical teachings as needed.
• Communicate with and support parents of the youth.
• Shepherd young people toward fullness in Christ, in cooperation with their parents.
• Help students integrate into the broader life of the church.
• Plan outings/events/retreats from time to time.
• Other duties as assigned, pertaining to the overall life of the church.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Belief in the Christian faith as described in the early Christian creeds (Apostle’s, Nicene, and Athanasian), and the Trinity Community Church Statement of Faith, in addition to agreement on our five distinctives.
• Personal trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and an ongoing practice of repentance.
• Love for the local church and an eagerness to be involved in the life of TCC.
• Experience working with students in a Christian setting, either as a staff member, pastor, or a volunteer.
• Ability to pass a background check
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Desire to be in the role 4+ years.
• Seminary training is preferred but is not required.
