Youth Ministry Leader

Job Overview

Overview

North Routt Community Church in Clark, Colorado is searching for a husband and wife team to lead our youth ministry (6-12th grade).  We are a non-denominational church with a growing number of families, and we are passionate about being an authentic gospel community that grows deeper in love for Christ and wider in love for our neighbors.  Currently, this is a part-time position which will require the couple to have another source of income.  However, there are plenty of available job opportunities in the area that could pair well with it.  Clark is located 25 minutes north of Steamboat Springs and offers some of the most incredible outdoor recreational opportunities anywhere in the country.  So if you love the mountains and have an adventurous spirit, and if you love Jesus and want to reach teenagers with the gospel and help them grow in their faith, this role may be a great fit for you!  You can learn more about us at www.northrouttcc.com.

Leadership Profile

The ideal prospective couple will:

  • Have an abiding relationship with Jesus and a love for God’s Word.
  • Display maturity in their Christian faith.
  • Enjoy working together as a husband/wife team.
  • Be willing and able to work bi-vocationally.
  • Be willing to use their home as a place of ministry when needed.
  • Have gifts that complement one another in fulfilling various tasks associated with youth ministry.
  • Relate well to teenagers and be passionate about helping them know Christ through His Word.
  • Have prior experience in youth ministry.
  • Be effective at building a team and recruiting leaders.
  • Seek to partner with parents and encourage discipleship in the home.
  • Be intentional and enthusiastic about building relationships with others.
  • Have excellent communication skills.
  • Be able to adapt to long, hard winters (it snows a LOT here) and rural living (we’re 30 min. from the nearest grocery store/Wal-Mart)

Responsibilities

  • Provide youth ministry leadership for students in 6-12th grade that consists of weekly bible study and discipleship combined with fun activities, community service, and outreach.
  • For weekly bible study and discipleship, our preference is to split the group into middle school (6-8th graders) and high school (9-12th graders). Because we do not own a church building (we meet at a local charter school for worship), both groups must meet either at host homes, at the charter school gym, or at some other central location that works.  Frequency and location may vary, especially during the summer months.
  • For all other activities, the groups can either be combined or separate at the discretion of the leaders. Our location offers plenty of opportunities for community service and outreach, along with endless opportunities for outdoor recreation in every season, which is great resource for planning fun and inexpensive youth and family activities.
  • Teach and facilitate small group bible study. If the group grows in number and additional leaders/facilitators are needed, recruit and train them to do so effectively.
  • Recruit parents and volunteers to assist in organizing youth activities.
  • Seek to build relationships with students and their families outside of regularly scheduled youth activities as time permits (i.e. attend sporting events when students are competing, grab lunch or dinner, etc.)
  • Communicate with parents on a regular basis to keep them apprised of youth ministry activities and needs.
  • Meet with the Lead Pastor and other church staff to pray, plan, and coordinate schedules as needed.
  • Work with Lead Pastor and Treasurer to develop an annual youth ministry budget and oversee youth ministry expenditures throughout the year.
  • Be present at Sunday worship gatherings and participate in the overall life of our church family.
  • Other things we’d LOVE to see happen eventually but are not required at this point (due to the additional time required) include church camp and mission trips. There are plenty of people in our church family who would gladly help make these happen.

Compensation

  • $35-50K Annually
  • There is a possibility of combining this role with our Kids’ Director opening if the candidates are a good fit for both, which would make this a full-time position.

If you are interested in applying, email your resume to [email protected].  Please include the following:

  • A recent photo of you and your spouse (and kids if you have them)
  • Three references, including one from your current or former pastor, and one from a current or former employer
  • A paragraph or two that describes your interest in this role and how you believe God has uniquely prepared you for it.
