Youth Pastor

Job Description Principal Function The Youth Pastor serves as a shepherd and partner in ministry, helping to strengthen and grow the life of our youth group. This role works alongside the pastor and church leadership to guide students in their walk with Christ, their discipleship, and their participation in the church. The Youth Pastor is accountable to the pastor and is expected to communicate clearly and regularly. This is a part-time position.

Responsibilities

Lead and oversee the church's ministry with middle and high school students, planning and guiding Bible studies, discipleship groups, service projects, and fellowship opportunities. Preach and teach the Word of God faithfully, modeling a Christ-centered, Scripture-based faith. Encourage and train youth to serve in the church and community, helping them grow as disciples who live out their faith. Equip youth leaders and volunteers to faithfully minister alongside students, fostering shared leadership in the church. Provide pastoral care to students and their families through encouragement, prayer, and biblical counsel. Support students by attending school events such as plays, concerts, and sporting activities, building relationships with them outside the church walls. Cultivate strong connections with parents and families, involving them in the life of the youth ministry. Organize and lead key activities, including:

Youth retreats and conferences (as appropriate) Disciple Now weekends or other church-sponsored retreats, often in partnership with other local churches Summer camps Mission trips and service projects Develop a balanced youth ministry that emphasizes evangelism, discipleship, fellowship, ministry, and worship—all centered on glorifying God. Provide a weekly youth gathering (currently on Wednesday nights). Incorporate youth into the broader life of the church, such as leading a youth-focused Sunday worship service.

General Expectations

Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings. Carry out other assignments as directed by the pastor. Keep organized records of ministry events, programs, and activities to ensure consistency and continuity.

Qualifications A growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a clear sense of calling to student ministry. Agreement with the church's statement of faith and commitment to teaching in accordance with Baptist theology and practice. Spiritual maturity, integrity, and a lifestyle that reflects Christ both inside and outside the church. Ability to clearly teach and apply the Bible to the lives of middle and high school students. A shepherd's heart for students and their families, with a passion for discipleship and evangelism. Strong relational skills with students, parents, volunteers, and church leadership. Organizational and planning skills to balance Bible study, outreach, fellowship, and service opportunities. Previous experience in student ministry preferred (volunteer or paid). Education or training in ministry, theology, or a related field is helpful but not required.
