Youth Pastor

Position Overview

The Youth Pastor will lead the Youth Ministry (Grades 6th‑12th) in helping students grow in Christ, build gospel‑centered foundations, become disciple‑makers, and spread the gospel. The goal is a gospel‑centered youth ministry that connects with students, reaches unchurched youth, partners with families, and shapes the next generation. The Youth Pastor will also collaborate with Children's Ministry to support the church and families in guiding children (birth through 5th grade) toward Jesus. The Youth Pastor will report to the Lead Pastor.

Key Expectations

· Develop a culture among youth to live as Christ‑followers, proclaim the gospel, make disciples in schools, homes, and community, and be on Jesus' mission.

· Collaborate with Children's Ministry to establish a safe, engaging, and gospel‑focused ministry for children.

· Cultivate a Gospel-centered volunteer leadership teams that are well trained and empowered.

· Effectively reach and raise up Youth and Children with the gospel.

Core Responsibilities

Youth Ministry (Primary – 80 percent)

1. Plan, lead, oversee weekly youth group meetings, small groups, Bible studies for 6th ‑12th grades.

2. Teach Scripture in age‑appropriate, engaging ways (large group and small group settings).

3. Cultivate a community of discipleship, spiritual growth and fellowship among youth.

4. Disciple youth to impact their places of influence with the gospel—i.e. church, home, school.

5. Provide leadership, encourage teamwork, and ensure alignment with church vision.

6. Organize and lead retreats, mission trips, camps, special youth events.

7. Provide pastoral care: mentoring, counsel, prayer, crisis care, etc.

8. Recruit, train, empower, coordinate, and support adult & student volunteer leaders.

9. Develop outreach strategies—connecting with schools, community, unchurched teens.

10. Plan and manage youth ministry budget, resources, logistics, scheduling.

11. Communicate regularly with students, parents, and families; build trust and partnership.

12. Stay culturally aware: understand issues teens are facing; adapt ministry to be relevant.

Children's Ministry Collaboration (20 percent)

1. Support and equip leaders and volunteers in the Children's Ministry (birth through5th grade)—overseeing curriculum and ensuring that safety standards/child protection policies are followed.

2. Recruit, train, and encourage volunteers to serve in Children's Ministry—helping to build a healthy, capable, and committed team.

3. Partner with Children's Ministry leaders and staff to plan special events—Vacation Bible School, Easter, Fall Harvest, family outreach, etc.

4. Foster spiritual growth and community among children and their families.

Additional Duties

1. Participate in church staff meetings.

2. Contribute to the overall mission and vision of GracePoint Church.

3. Assist with broader church events and initiatives beyond youth and children's ministries.

4. Regularly assess ministry effectiveness and propose adjustments or improvements.

5. Ensure children's ministry compliance with safety, screening, and policy requirements.

6. Maintain communication with church leaders about ministry needs, challenges, and opportunities.

7. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Spiritual and Personal

1. Authentic relationship with Jesus—evident in daily life.

2. Biblically qualified for pastoral leadership (1 Timothy 3:1‑8; Titus 1:5‑9; 1 Peter 5:1‑4). Character consistent with Biblical leadership (integrity, humility, accountability).

3. A clear calling to youth ministry and a willingness to equip and empower children's ministry.

4. Theological alignment with GracePoint Church's theological standards, particularly as expressed in the Baptist Faith and Message (2000).

5. Strong theological foundation and has the capability to teach Scripture accurately.

Preferred Experience, Skills and Education

1. Three years' experience in youth leadership and disciple‑making.

2. Experience in leading and developing volunteers.

3. Proven leadership in youth ministry—individual, as a group, and in the community.

4. Excellent communication skills—verbal, written, and public speaking.

5. Strong organizational and administrative ability: event planning, budgeting, scheduling.

6. Able to recruit, train, supervise, and develop volunteers.

7. Pastoral and relational skills with youth, children, parents, and volunteers.

8. Master's Level seminary degree is preferred

9. Able to work independently and collaboratively in a church staff environment.

10. Ordained under GracePoint Church's theological and ministry standards.
