Job Overview

Overview: Harvest Community Church is seeking a passionate and organized Youth Ministry Director to oversee and lead our middle school and high school ministries. This part-time role (20 hours per week) involves planning, coordinating, and implementing engaging programs, events, and spiritual growth opportunities for students. The ideal candidate will foster a Christ-centered environment, disciple students in their faith journey, and support a team of dedicated volunteer leaders.

There is potential for the right person to also work part-time with Young Life East Calrk County. Harvest has experience in pairing our youth ministry role with the Young Life role and seeing God move in ways we only dreamed of.

Job Description

Job Title: Part-Time Youth Ministry Director Location: Harvest Community Church Hours: 20 hours per week (see note under compensation for potential partner role with Young Life East Clark County)

Key Responsibilities:

Weekly Youth Group Planning and Execution:

  • Develop and lead weekly Wednesday night youth group gatherings for middle school and high school students.
  • Create a welcoming, safe, and engaging atmosphere that encourages spiritual growth.
  • Teach biblically sound lessons that are relevant to youth, partnering with volunteers for creative delivery.

Volunteer Team Development:

  • Recruit, train, and mentor a team of volunteer leaders to assist with youth ministry programs.
  • Provide ongoing support and encouragement to the volunteer team, ensuring alignment with the church's vision.

Event and Retreat Coordination:

  • Plan and implement regular events for middle school and high school students, fostering community and outreach.
  • Organize annual summer camps for each group, including curriculum, logistics, and team coordination.
  • Plan and execute a mid-year retreat for spiritual renewal and bonding.

Parent and Church Engagement:

  • Communicate regularly with parents to keep them informed and involved in their child's spiritual development.
  • Collaborate with other church ministries and leadership to ensure alignment with Harvest Community Church's mission and values.

Administrative Duties:

  • Manage the youth ministry budget to ensure responsible stewardship of resources.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, registrations, and volunteer involvement.
  • Promote youth ministry events through church communication channels.

Qualifications:

  • A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a commitment to biblical tea
  • Actively participate in the life of Harvest
  • Previous experience working with youth in a ministry context.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to connect with middle school and high school students and foster meaningful relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and interpersonal).
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in youth ministry, theology, education, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Familiarity with planning and leading camps or retreats.
