Job Description Pastor/Director Youth Ministries
The Pastor/Director of Youth Ministries should be a Christ-centered team player who has a passion and vision for leading and directing ministry to student’s grades 6 – 12 of New Hope Church. This person must possess strong interpersonal, organizational, and motivational skills.
General Responsibilities:
- Work closely with Leadership Team to provide excellence in Youth Ministries at New Hope Church
- Attend a monthly meeting with the Lead Pastor as well as other meetings as required in order to facilitate the ministry of New Hope Church.
- Attend Weekend Celebration Services as scheduled.
- Communicate effectively with the congregation regarding youth ministries and opportunities to serve.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Directing and implementing all aspects of the church’s youth ministry with primary focus on evangelism, discipleship, equipping for and releasing them into ministry in the church family and beyond.
- Select and implement biblically sound, Christ centered curriculum that is culturally relevant.
- Provide supervision, training, encouragement, and support to Youth Ministry volunteer teams while continuing to identify and recruit additional volunteers.
- Organize and plan activities for senior high and middle school youth, including Wednesday Youth Service; small group bible studies; social activities; service opportunities in the community; retreats; mission trips.
- Develop and maintain outreaches to students in the local Middle and High Schools
- Create and effectively manage the youth ministry budget.
- Maintain all communications for Youth Ministries including (but not limited to) church bulletin, website, social media, and local publications.
- Relate to Youth technologically and spiritually; have knowledge and experience in parent-youth issues and relationships and relate well to the parents of said youth.
- Develop and maintain a strategy for reaching and assimilating new youth and their families to New Hope Church.
Other General Expectations and Responsibilities:
- It is very important that our youth pastor have a passion for youth
- Be able to lead youth to a closer relationship with Jesus Christ
- Be in agreement with the Non-denominational and charismatic beliefs of New Hope Church
- Be comfortable leading large and small groups, and be able to work well with others.
- The youth pastor will organize activities that will promote an environment for the development of socially and, spiritually sound young adults.
- Should always exhibit professionalism, demonstrated by: a well-groomed appearance, conscientious work ethic,
- Be willing and able to work at a fast pace within a variety of settings and circumstances, with composure and flexibility.
- Should be ever conscious of the need for confidentiality.
- Should exercise discernment and wise judgment.
- Should be a person who gives attention to details with an eye for excellence.
- Should be a self-starter, good at multi-tasking and prioritizing projects.
- Endorse and support the Lead Pastor, Leadership Team, and the program and ministries of New Hope Church.
- Maintain personal spiritual development through Bible reading, prayer, and Christian community. Demonstrate and maintain consistent Christian Character and morality as defined by the scriptures.
Accountability:
- The Pastor/Director of Youth Ministries reports to Lead Pastor and is directly supervised by the Executive Pastor.
Classification:
- Part time, salaried position requiring approximately 10 – 15 hours weekly.
