Word of Life Chapel, located in Marietta, PA, is a non-denominational, family-oriented church with a vibrant and growing population of young families with children and teenagers. Overview
The Youth Pastor will report to the Lead Pastor and will be tasked with shepherding the youth of our church to help them grow in their understanding and love for God through Scripture and connecting them to the life of the Church.
Qualifications
We are seeking a theologically sound, Bible-based teacher, preferably with experience in youth ministry. This man should be an effective communicator, relational, relatable, and able to shepherd our youth through the post-Christian cultural shift in our society. We are looking for a youth pastor with the ability to disciple our youth and equip them to become active participants within the body of Christ. He shall possess the ability to connect with the younger generation, including those with special needs. He must possess wisdom in knowing how to treat those younger than him and of the opposite gender with purity and love and within appropriate boundaries. He shall be a man of humility with a servant's attitude, one who works well with others, and one who is sensitive to the power of prayer in personal and corporate contexts.
Job Description
He will:
- Demonstrate a growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Exhibit a consistent moral character and lifestyle, fulfilling the biblical leadership qualification of an elder described in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9.
- Affirm the faith and doctrinal statements of Word of Life Chapel as stated in the Constitution, as well as our Mission Statement.
- Work in partnership with our Lead Pastor, Elder Board, Deacon Board, and Global Outreach Committee.
- Possess or presently pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher in a Biblical discipline, preferably from a Bible-based institution.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Prepare and coordinate biblically-based and culturally relevant messages, programs, and ministries for our Senior High and Junior High youth.
- Mobilize volunteers and youth leaders to serve faithfully and effectively in the lives of our youth. Empowering the youth leaders to disciple our youth.
- Biblically grounded teaching at all youth events/retreats while leading kids into a growing relationship with Christ.
- Effectively communicate the Gospel message.
- Discipling and counseling our youth for the purpose of helping them navigate through cultural issues and grow in biblical disciplines.
- Building relationships with our youth and praying for them regularly and passionately.
- Attending weekly planning/scheduling meetings with the Lead Pastor, Children's Ministry Director, and Administrative Assistant.
- Planning and coordinating youth events, outreach activities, retreats, summer camps, and mission trips that encourage meaningful worship of Christ, deep fellowship in the Spirit, and a growing understanding of God.
- Active participation in the life of the Church through membership, regular attendance, and humble service, thus setting an example for the youth to follow.
- Connecting the youth to church life by encouraging and equipping intergenerational relationships, integrating youth into the main church service, and integrating youth into our other areas of service (children's ministry, VBS, etc.)
- Communicating regularly with parents.
- Engaging with the youth and their families outside of church (sporting events, musicals, school events, etc.).
- Coordinating with the Lead Pastor and the Global Outreach Committee on opportunities for youth involvement in missions trips, local outreach projects, etc.
- Equipping and preparing the youth for college, work, etc., and helping to integrate them into the young adult ministry upon graduation from the youth program.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Assist the Lead Pastor in carrying out other pastoral duties as may be needed or assigned, including but not limited to preaching, visitation, baptism, weddings, etc.
- Participate in Sunday worship services as needed or assigned (announcements, etc.).
- Provide oversight of our young adults ministry.
- Engage in other church ministries, including but not limited to Vacation Bible School or other community events.
- Attend monthly Elder board meetings.
Accountability:
He will be accountable to God, the Lead Pastor, Elder Board, and the congregation for his pastoral ministry, personal integrity, and spiritual maturity.
