Youth/Student Minister
First Baptist Church LaPlace Part-Time Student Minister First Baptist Church LaPlace is seeking a part-time student minister who loves the Lord and has a heart for fostering spiritual transformation in the lives of our students (6th -12th grade). The Student Minister is a member of the First Baptist Church LaPlace ministerial staff and is under the supervision of the Senior Pastor. The Student Minister is responsible for providing leadership and oversight to the spiritual needs of students and their families. He is highly relational with a heart to provide spiritual development of both students and parents through the student ministry at First Baptist LaPlace. He should be a team player who contributes to the student ministry by leading volunteers and others, nurturing spiritual growth, and organizing special services/events. He is expected to contribute to the ministerial staff through fellowship, dedication, cooperation, encouragement, and prayer support as we serve Christ together at First Baptist LaPlace. Essential Responsibilities: · Create and maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all guests, students, and their families in the student ministry.· Oversee, evaluate, and develop the student ministry at First Baptist Church LaPlace.· Oversee the planning and execution of weekly student programs (Sunday School at 9am and Sunday Night or Wednesday Night) including curriculum selection and implementation, lesson planning, and volunteer scheduling.· Teach and lead youth Bible study on Sunday mornings and either Sunday Night Small Groups or a Wednesday Night Midweek Youth Service depending on the student minister's flexibility with their schedule.· Plan and coordinate discipleship opportunities such as summer camp, conferences, DNOWs, or retreats.· Intentionally build relationships with students and their families.· Enlist, train, and equip adult volunteers to serve in the Student Ministry at First Baptist Church LaPlace.· Plan and lead opportunities for students and their families to live out their faith through service in the church and through missions in our community and beyond.· Develop positive relationships with parents/guardians of the students. Meet and communicate regularly with them to encourage their partnership and involvement.· Plan at least one student ministry event, an activity, or a mission event each month outside of Sunday School or the Sunday Night Small Group/Wednesday night Midweek options.· Develop and manage the annual student ministry budget with accountability and operating within the appropriate processes.· Faithfully participate in the ministries of the church family.· Perform any other ministerial functions assigned by the Senior Pastor. Hours and Compensation: · This is a part-time position requiring 20 hours a week.-This person is expected to work 4 hours on Sunday from 8am-12pm, 4 hours on Wednesday night from 4pm-8pm for staff meeting and First Baptist Church LaPlace Midweek programming or 4pm-8pm on Sunday Night Small Groups if small groups are used in place of Wednesday nights.-Each staff member has the flexibility to organize their remaining hours with the approval of the Senior Pastor to best meet their personal needs and the needs of the ministry.· This position is paid $1200 a month before taxes with a bi-weekly pay period to align with church policies.· This position is eligible to apply and receive the NOBTS Caskey Scholarship (full tuition up to 8,000 annually) for undergraduate or master's study at NOBTS.
